Second that congrats to The Club! This bad boy looked about dead less than two years ago, but with a little elbow grease and a whole lot of sincerity from its members, it’s risen like the Phoenix. Love the way you set up your Rumble tag team alongside that old-fashioned refrigerator. I’ll bet that thing holds quite a few 12-packs.
Actually, while I see your point, GP, and if there’s no one living within a hundred feet of you, let ‘er rip, BUT sometimes I don’t want to play loud when just noodling around. I like something, like the Foxy Voxy combo, that can bring pleasing tones at a lower level I’m feeling comfortable with. It’s my mellow time that I rarely get to enjoy enough.

Agreed. That setup was a one time thing to see if it could be done(yes). I normally play just the Kasino at about 8 o'clock-7 is off. If I even take it to 11ish, plates rattle. Until it developed its annoying hum, I used the Bassman 25 for applied noodling.

Nice addition, RR, to a rainy, chilly Iowa Sunday. I’ve listened to this vid (anything combo-related has probably been watched by me) a few times and wish he’d have kept the competition more alike. I mean, what’s the point of running the Roland against any of the others other than to fill out the field? Of course, a couple proper actually like it better the the others!
I’d agree with those who said the AER has the more pleasing bottom end, but I thought the PJB held up really well. Very musical.
The Markbass, one I used to own and gig with, was a decent third place finisher. To me, it sounds better live in the room than it did here. It’s a great Swiss Army Knife for the player who owns only one amp, a scary thought!
The Roland, for all its features is a fine product, but also owning one of those way back when I found it too limiting, sound-wise. For messing around with it’s great, but you’ll have to work it pretty hard to keep up with the tambourine in your band.

Watched the vid in the understanding there's a clever and catchy bass line that wants in. So, that worked.
What it appears to me, speaking of engineering, marketing and bookkeeping, is this demonstration of the price of closing the gaps between the three. That AES is sweet. It brings a different game to the game.

I agree that more low would be better. He's got some lower playing in this, but it's mixed too far down and you can't really hear it without headphones.
But what of the 4 was your fave, and why?
I think in this vid, I like the PJB Double 4 for it's size, but the AES for it's sound. Sound wise, the PJB comes in second for me.
All had too much of a modern sound for my tastes, but if I had to choose-and cost wasn't a factor-it'd be the one on the right(AER/S?)

The Markbass sounds to stark and brittle to my ear. I wroted AES but yeah it's AER and fixed that before my edit timer ran out.

Unlike the rest of you pros, I have to take my gigs with the same amount of gusto as climbing the Himalayas or something. I may even be so bold and wear my Santa hat! Now I have to decide which amp to use. I believe it's in either the gym (very large) or the music room (large). Right now I'm thinking of either the Rumble 100 and DI it to the PA, or roll the dice and run the new VOX head through the Ampeg 210 cab. No DI, but I could still run the line out into the PA and adjust from the board. Or...are you ready...? Bring the Superbeetle rig and mic the cab. Thoughts?

You're right. It's not like I haven't played this venue before. It'll come down to rehearsal. I try a variety and see what works best. The 100c has already proven it can do the job adequately.
As for other pieces, she, our BL, may hold off the religious pieces even though I've always stood by playing them in school, but we all know that's a touchy Church vs. State subject. I just wanna know how an old pro like you didn't call me on Led Zep? A little nugget to see if who read the entire list...
Oh, I read it. Seemed a little curious, but FAIK, there could be another song with that title. We've had requests for songs that have multiple versions so we ask "which one?"(Wonderful World comes to mind. We do Sam Cooke's and Louis Armstrong's)

Yeah well I looked at it and figured there are folks who consider Led Zeppelin appropriate for everything. Weddings, funerals, birthdays, why not the holidays?

I've played many of these on either piano or viola. I haven't played any Christmas shows on bass yet, I started on bass in January 2018.
I'm sure I played Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, Let it Snow, White Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Silent Night, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, Jingle Bell Rock, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Am I being the showoff here?
