I’m so happy to read your post, M. It was a totally cool gamble we took to improve both our combos. Just keep on a playing and smiling!
I’m telling ya, I think you’d get a kick out of the current VOX line. The NuTube combo is lightweight and yet full sounding with a little bit of bite, and then there’s the Superbeetle which is a totally fun little rig to show off but also has some nasty built into it if your liberal with the controls. What’s best is that they flat out sound really good.

Well, I guess it was inevitable. My newly aquired Blackstar Unity 60 is moving on. It's definitely a good amp, it just wasn't what I was looking for. I have to come to terms with the fact that I'm a Fender guy at heart, so today I went out and got a Rumble Studio 40. A trifle extravagant perhaps, but it's my birthday in 10 days, so I figured I'd treat myself. I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces, though that won't be for a few days yet, but I'll probably be able to squeeze in some noodling time before that.

Congratulations, JakobT! To be honest, I had a weird feeling about the Bstar and its long-term relationship with you. Your honest review sent obvious mixed signals and I’m sure you gave it a fair shake. It’s happened to all of us at one time or another. Best thing to do is move on and get ready to enjoy the numerous tones of your new Studio 40!
We’ll need another upfront report, but don’t hurry. Try as many of the models first before making judgments. Some need time to used to, like with any other modeler.
Again, congrats! Good decision made.

Hey there EatS1st..great to see you join the club while I was enjoying a little break.
Pity you werent in all my bands with me from mid 70's to 2015 helping me load in and out my 122lb Peavey 1820 cab, let alone the Peavey MKIV head which weighed more than my Fender 500 Combo loll..but boy oh boy did it ever make up for the slog-in with the sound she put out..lol

Loaded my Peavey and its ungodly massive 115 home-built extension cab into the Poormobile often enough. That cab ... gather 'round kids and hear the tale, a tale of a massive cab
It is the creation of a bassist, a big bad bassist who made his own fretless with a solid purpleheart body. Talk about massive. And he offered the cab he made to me at a very reasonable price. Well, he would. Anyway. The cab was one-third port. With its casters, stood near a meter tall. He built it to withstand anything.
And yet, managed to find a weak point in the design many years down the road. Watched as the movers rolled the cab down the sidewalk and it fell on its back. The impact was enough to knock the jack in. Never did bother to fix it.
What did it sound like? A Peavey pushed as hard as possible is what it sounded like!
Sometimes I kind of wish for another rig with a 15. But not for all that long.

That "snow" thing is a major part of why I've lived in FL my entire life-except for 4 years as a 'guest' of the Navy. My first experience with snow was being awakened at 2 AM in boot camp to shovel the stuff. At that moment I decided that snow was a Communist plot.Are you sure that this is a recent pic? Very che schweet, Jake! Happy birthday! The RS40 is a veritable box just chock full o' goodies. I can't get enough of mine. Here's hoping you don't get overwhelmed with the depth of the configuration possibilities. I'm still a bit intimidated of mine.
But I look forward to delving more deeply later on.
