Sometimes I miss the Peavey TNT 100 combo with the 15 inch speaker. Not often enough to want it back (my back), but I do enjoy the presence a 15 brings. Stack two and just wow. That's how people gigged last century. 100 watts and lots of driver real estate!

Funny you should mention it. Most recent compliment I got on my tone I was ampless. Went straight to the board via the DI on the VT Bass Deluxe. Silky Ampeg set-and-forget. In these modern now a-go-go days here in the future, it's an HPF into the VTBD. The cab sim on the pedal acts as an effective LPF at 5khz, and as a secondary HPF.

Played all weekend on the BA108v2 Plus. Could be my ears but it feels a bit of slammin' with the volume knob up around 2:00 actually "broke it in". Sounds smoother now around 10:00 - 11:00 (3-4), which is a perfectly reasonable practice volume for me.

Seems at one of the threads next door there is as much a TB consensus we're likely to see: 20 watts and a single 8 inch speaker is plenty enough for a couple acoustic instruments. A gig is a gig <shrug>

Speaking of gigs, my older sister worked as a classical bassist. (monster sight reader!) For her set, everyone did church gigs. And reminded in that, the classical set is probably rehearsing Ahmal and the Night Visitors even now. Of course what those musicians called it is Amyl and the Nitrates. Those classical folks sure are funny.

Yeah, I seems to be moving in the opposite direction than most folks - i.e. small watts big cab - but I don't have to move it much. Plus I'm fulfilling a teenaged dream of a stack! I may have to buy a small Vox combo for portability sake, though ...

I paid just under $300. I did a google search and a Guitar Center in Chicago had one for $289, and I had them ship it to my local GC. I am not a GC fan, but this time they came through. It sounds great with my old Fender basses:) Yes, make me a member!

A few combos of yore, e.g. B-15, Walkabout, &c., are arguably better in sound than ... depends on what one is looking for. If it includes meeting all the requirements of the gig without the idiosyncrasies of the time they were novel, dibs to the current crop in my limited experience.

Owning and gigging the amps I used (and could afford) 40 years ago again: NO. Cool to have and cool to see, and let it be. Ain't turning down a B-15, mind you.

Ha, it's that kind of day here too!

My interest in planes is with commercial airliners. There are a few that really stand out for me. The De Havilland Comet was was a beautiful plane. Its teething problems, well. The liner I liked most is the Lockheed 1011. These days it's just pack as many as we can.

I couldn't say. Last time I flew commercial was Christmas Day, 1970! Boeing 727-200
