The Combo Club

A brief story, since things are up in the air. As folks had guessed I did order Vox VX50BA. I ordered on Reverb for a great price from a nice fellow in South Carolina. Anyway, he shipped it via FedEx and that's where things went wrong. They lost his shipping information, and couldn't seem to resolve the issues even after the seller tried his best to fix it. So they sent the amp back to him. We were both very frustrated by this time, but him more than I. So he decided he was going to send me the amp for free; not just the shipping, but the amp too for free. I thanked him for his generosity and told I'd send him some money when I received the amp. No we wait ...

I thought you should take a cruise to even further south- many degrees of latitude. I realize you run out of continent rather quickly from your locale ( thus my prior edit after realizing how truly SOUTH you already are;))

Guess my point is your only option may be to go closer to the pole.

That was an interesting read on the "grid saving battery".
Best wishes for cooling and electrical relief
Thanks DrMole..yep its gonna get a tad warm by this time next week with 45C or more predicted so heading towards Antarctica, which as you say, isnt that further south for us, is a darn good spot for a bit of summer relief loll
Yep Tesla (Elon Musk's company) installed that battery a couple years ago as a supplement to our power grid in times of standard power shortfall when turbines from coal generators etc are struggling in summer heat conditions. Maybe in a week we may hopefully need to use the darn thing...it cost the State enough lol

Wow, Doc! I don't think our Fearless Leader could possibly top that deal on a li'l foxy Voxy. So, no regerts there, eh? But, yeah, the frustrating delays do take their toll.

I look forward to your VX50BA review with bait on my breath! (Had shrimp and crabmeat gumbo again last night. )

Shrimp and Crabmeat Gumbo, Dog, sounds like a very Intrepid meal loll

Not really too adventurous around here, Giffy. Chicken, sausage, and many other types of gumbo is a staple, especially during this cool-to-cold time of year. But, Mrs. Dog knows I love shrimp in all things, and crabmeat just makes it even betterer!

I think even Intrepid Leader would like it, unless he's got a shellfish allergy.

If I disappear anytime next week CC Members it could be that our power in my area of Adelaide has been cut off due to what's known as Load Sharing, so as to keep the power on in most other areas of the city and state. In other words the Power Regulator here in Australia can turn off an area's power for a few hours at a time if the system is under stress. Next week our heatwave temperatures in the north of Adelaide are...
Mon. 16th - 38C degrees,
Tue. 17th - 42C degrees,
Wed. 18th - 43C degrees,
Thur. 19th - 44C degrees,
Fri. 20th - 46C degrees.
I certainly hope to stay here and my air conditioners to keep functioning in that heat but anything is possible going by past years of power cuts due to stressed generators etc etc. Just an advisory that if it happens I havent gone by choice loll

Yep no doubt about the climate crisis here in Oz

To those of you who may have thought I met an early demise, it was only wishful thinking. I am alive, well, and exactly four days from vacation.

Following a very busy weekend (#2’s birthday weekend extravaganza to be exact), I am literally drowning in paperwork. We’re trying to tidy up loose ends before slapping a bow on the week and that included shopping for a classroom of fifth graders tonight. But I was in luck as I found 22 black plastic string winders that I thought would make great stocking stuffers for a group of nine-year olds.

As for club-things, you folks have been doing great, keep up the fine work! This past weekend was the first in a decade I didn’t write on the board and it felt weird. I haven’t played much either and that’s driven me to wanna move to Australia and score a deep suntan!

After I finish this manifesto I plan on being on no later than the weekend with a follow up of our Christmas concert. I learned something new last Friday when I was introduced to side fill PA speaker support. Wow! Who needs an amp? :woot:

Before I go, a couple of things: someone make sure to turn Giffro over every hour on the hour; find our what Morrighan is doing predawn, and get the number of a good shrink for Doc Intrepid because now he’s envisioning free amps moving to Canada!

“...And to all a good night!”

Never a truer word spoken by a banana bender..lolll Howdy Bazz..yep my mate and his wife only made it back a couple days ago from 3 months touring NSW and FNQ (Pt Douglas mainly) and have lobbed back home here in sunny ol Adelaide just in time to enjoy the lovely warm weather (or in good Aussie-Speak..The Stinking Hot Adelaide Christmas) loll
Its certainly one of the hottest Christmases I remember..47C degrees tipped here for Friday 20th..to quote our fearless leader "someone make sure to turn Giffro over every hour on the hour"..I sure will be baking..lol
Keep cool Bazz and thanks for the post.
