Here on TB we're always willing to help our fellow bassist to buy more gear!

Seems like it! I've been reading here a while and only just joined. I tried to learn to play bass almost 20 years ago and ended up selling my used department store Harmony K short scale because I was working three jobs and needed DJ gear more, or so I thought at the time. The...uh...release(?) of a nearly 2 decade build up of GAS has been epic. I have been helped greatly by the experience and enthusiasm of TBers!

I had a similar experience. I went 25 years without playing, and started again 2 years ago. Now that I have a good job I was able to spend some money on gear, and I certainly have!

If you require a club number just ask iagtrplyr (Fearless Leader - Mike) or G-Dog (Doggy lol)..he'll catch up on your request shortly if you are a combo owner.

So, I don't have a gear list setup yet, but I have a Rumble 40, and I bought that PJB D4 by the way. My justification being that my Rumble 40 is too loud for my apartment. Nevermind the fact that the walls are so thin I feel like changing the strings on my acoustic since I'm worried the phosphor bronze rings out to much.

Please show us pix of your combos! And ask for a number and you shall receive. :)

You all are the epitome of what this club and the forum are all about. Thanks to each of you for chiming in ideas.

I’m going to look at everything individually and decide what I’d like to do, if anything at this moment.

A third bass for me right now could be equated to growing a third arm (though it could come in handy). I think the short scale, thin neck is where my future lies. GP’s Jag comments made an impression. It’s not even any fun holding the Jazz after spending time with the Rogue. As far as I know there are no lefty Mustangs, but that or another brand (gasp!) might be in the future.

The PJB on Amazon is probably about as good a price for a new one as we’ll see, thanks Protagonist! Black is my color too for all things amplifier. I keep debating with myself what I’m going to do with it! I’ve got enough dinky amps, but there is something about it that says to me I need one. I gotta get back to work!

Seriously, I found an Ampeg tube amp that at this second makes sense to grabbing before it’s gone. My cab needs a mate and that DI setup would be a benefit should I ever get the recording thing going. If I do though, it better be soon.

I’ll keep ya up on things, and again, thanks so much for helping out. You’re all great people!

FL ((BTW, the backwards notes are how I see them anyway. I’d have left them)

Ya know, that’s a striking likeness of me in the spring of ‘75. I remember it well...third arm...endless surgeries...carnival offer to star in their show...the twins that following summer.

Thanks, Giff, for that trip down Memory Lane. Keep up with your drawing!

Wow. I’m new here and thought this thread was about combo amps.

Due to the holidays, alcohol, too much food, sugar hits, different time zones and other distractions (ie Australia is on fire & Europe melting) folk have been letting their hair down and straying off task. But keep coming back because the TBer’s here have a wealth of knowledge and information which they are always happy to share.

I went through the previous 3-4 pages (for the latest info) and didn’t see much discussion of combo amps, but I get it... topics wander.
I’m back into bass playing after a couple of decades — never got rid of my ‘62 reissue Jazz bass though — been performing with guitar for most of that time, and looking at what to get amp-wise. Started loving the Hartke KB15, and am not at all convinced that you have to get a modular set-up, though I understand much of the reasoning. Then read, of course, negative opinions on Hartke, which every brand will have of course. Not really able to go out and try out a bunch of amps, and I’m fine with buying new gear as opposed to used. I like the thought of a 15” speaker as opposed to a 12 or two 10s, and I want to be able to use this as a practice and gig amp for small/medium venue. So I think I nee 500 watts or better. But portability is also important. Can’t see the sense of spending $700 on a head and $500 more on a cabinet when there are so many happy campers out there with good combos that sell for around $500-$600 and seem to deliver the goods. Thoughts are more than welcome!
