The fella that sent me the VX50BA never deposited my money transfer. I'm not sure if it was because he was unable to deposit the money or he simply did not want it. He was definitely a nice guy and generous either way. So this beauty has fit in well with my rig and only cost me $36.50 USD. View attachment 3684643

I'm glad you're having a good time with it, but can you post a higher-res version of that picture? That level of grainy makes my eyes hurt to look at it.

Gee, I'm gone for what amounted to be a minute or two and the place goes nuts! Just finished playing some blues on the PJB. She's starting to work in a little, though I'm waiting longer for the LaBellas to settle down than I thought I did on the Rogue bass. either way, it still sounds good. Okay, let's get to stuff...

RR, it's winter in Iowa and I have to go to work tomorrow. A man's gotta do what he's gotta do to stay sane, I tell ya! Personally I like to think of it as...alternative facts.

On another note, do you remember me talking about this Soundtrap website for recording a few weeks ago? I was messing around with it today and tonight, and for a novice like me, it's got some pretty sweet sounds. Of course, I have to figure out the placing of the instruments to create a nice riff, but I'll figure it out. Alone with my bass and an acoustic guitar picking in whatever you key you want, I found it fun to play along. So I think that's what I'm going to use when recording the PJB. It's still gonna come from a mic, but I think it'll be listenable.

Have you looked at it yet? I'm using the freeware and even if it's all I use it'll be enough to jam with. Give it a try when you're bored and let me know what you think.

Yep, I looked into Soundtrap, and was unclear what all I would use it for. The interface was not entirely intuitive to me. I found myself watching a YouTube vid about making a home studio for less than $150 and going deeper down that rabbit-hole. Alice sends her regards, by the way. Hope you enjoy the Soundtrap, and feel free to let us know your thoughts as you use it more.

-side note- my wife is singing a song about mashed potatoes to the tune of "Oh where is my hairbrush" from Veggie Tales. See? I get the idea of maintaining sanity.

I'm still saving some moolah for the upcoming shootout, cleaning the room where I expect a dinky amp to live, and getting my workshop ready for more car and instrument repairs. So I guess I'm not currently bored.

You run your GK exactly as I did years ago. Run as much flat as possible and use the boost to set how naw-tay you wanna get. Sweet!

Hi....I'm playing combos all my life. Got a lot of different ones, but in a past 7-8 years I'm stuck with the GK, first MB210 and now MB212II.

Hey there, Obrad Lacarac! How are you? I see you live in Europe. We have a few club members from that glorious continent. Your GK combos are pretty much all you need to practice, rehearse, and gig with.

I’m probably so far behind the rest of you guys pertaining to a home record studio. $150, huh? Color me very interested. I take it this setup will interface with your computer?

Soundtrap caught my ear as having some quality loops that maybe I can play behind, but, for me, seems to be time-consuming. It’s got a Pro-tools look to it and I have zero experience with it, but I was messing with a few neat acoustic riffs.

Please keep us posted on your recording plan. There may be more than just me interested. Thanks Rod!

PS: maybe you can add your better half’s vocals to your recordings. I mean, who doesn’t love harmonies about mashed potatoes and hairbrushes?

Having played neither, impossible to comment on one or the other. Certainly there are folks in the Combo Club who've driven both.

I concur. I've played through both and IMHO the GK is just flat-out better sounding. ymmv

Thanks! Yeah, I opted for the 210 mainly because it had the capability of adding an extension cab, and it was the highest wattage of the BA series.
I also found out here on TB, that Ampeg had factory refurbished amps at a really good price, so I went for it. For a rehearsal amp, it works for me.

As far as recording studio stuff, I just want some dead simple and cheap stuff. Here's the vid I was referencing..

Someday I'll have a recording plan, for now, I just have recording dreams!

My lovely wife has been my co-conspirator for a number of projects, and I'm sure she will be on a number more!

Good to know, Oh Cosmic One. I don’t mind refurbished if I get the feeling someone has actually checked it out. I especially love those amps that say it’s been opened and that’s about it. Otherwise it’s completely perfect.

I suggest stacking the combo and 2x10 vertically. Put the Trace head on the ground or behind.

+bajillion for the compressor and hpf.

Should be great! They'll probably ask you to turn down.
