The Combo Club

Yeah, that sounds like fun, but with GP displaying the barfing emoji, I get the feeling we'd be the only ones eating that HJ Special. That's okay, they've got a game room for those peoples who normally take two bites of pizza and then make a run with tokens in their hands.
That's not barfing, it's drooling. This is the 'ralphing' emoji'::vomit:

Happy Saturday to those hangin' in the club! I was AWOL yesterday as the day was spent working on Google educators' certification because the admin thought they needed to gives 3-5 something fun to do for the foreseeable days. That, plus normal weekday duties made it feel like a "normal" day, though I did sneak in a 30-min nap in the late afternoon.

We are to begin continuous (i.e. distance) learning to start the Monday after Easter. We were officially told on Thursday the state is keeping schools closed until April 30th, and if the districts have the desire to finish at the end of May, they must begin teaching online. Otherwise, we have to keep the school year going until mid-June, which will be challenging because everyone's going to be busy planning for eLearning over the summer in preparation for the so-called second wave in the fall/winter. (big sigh)

On the bright side, I did purchase some fanboy clothing from Fender today! They had a 20% sale and I grabbed a black t-shirt (found out I'm missing black and that's a no-no) and black Fender beanie. It'll cover my blue Mohawk I'm currently sporting (school challenge, don't ask) when I make the weekly dash through Jewel/Oscos. Otherwise, it was a dull week...

Okay, we need an interesting combo topic and I have one I've been wanting to ask ya'll: is anyone planning on ordering the Spark mini-combo amp for fun? This 40-watt combo, which supposedly works for bass as well as guitars, looks as if the jack-of-all-trades kinda amp (10,000 tones, full-range sound, recording ability, smart jam (kind of neat), and more goodies than I feel like typing out. Here's the link:

Spark | Smart Practice Guitar Amp and App | Positive Grid

I've never heard of Positive Grid before, but it sounds as if software is their claim to fame. From what I've read, ordering one of these suckas is a nightmare. Sounds like they're relying on customers' pre-orders to bankroll the production, and so because of that, there are lengthy delays in getting the product to the musicians. Prices are between 200-300 bucks depending on if you want an extra goodie or not. I'd like to here on with a bass playing through it, though I've caught some YT vids and with electric guitar, it sounds okay from here. Thoughts and opinions are welcome, chime in if interested!
With the current no gigging situation, the fact that our 'season' is over, and a feeling of doom for our venues, I'm more likely to sell than buy.:(

Thanks for letting me know about the Spark. Unfortunately, it seems intended to pair with a smartphone, and I don't have one, so I'll pass. Plus my normal feelings that anything tied to software like this will be really great for the first couple years, start needing updates and refreshes after that, and within 10 years will be an obsolete dust-collector.

But I'm a techno-skepticist, so that's the kind of hat pin I am. I saved the day at work yesterday by pulling out a sheet of vellum, and hand-drawing a part on my home drafting table so that production could make it over the weekend and we can ship our part on Monday. Old school, baby! :D

Now that Tele-ish guitar they show in the pic about "Home Recording"? That is a super-cool looking guitar and I wonder what it is?

Prolly something that only works with a Smartphone, which I also don't have-or want.

Ugh. Yeah, I'm worried about some of our favorite night spots and restaurants. Several are completely closed, so we cannot even help by ordering take-out from them. :( Of course, my staunch environmental side bristles at the huge amount of extra trash being generated by take out, so that's a whole 'nother.

But our cars are not needing refills, and there is a huge reduction in the amount of air traffic flying over our heads, so I'm trying to take the bright side view. Yesterday was warm and sunny, so I ended up walking around the block and chatting (at 6-12 feet apart) with a handful of neighbors. It was a good day, and restored my feeling that we'll get through this eventually. Much like when 9/11 happened, our world will never again be the same, but at least we should find a new normal.

That’s drool, right GP?

Good attitude, Rod. We all will get past this, one way or another. My mind is already thinking of the return version they’re expecting come fall or winter. Can you imagine going through this again?

Hmmmm, . . . . A modeling amp that works with a phone app via Bluetooth? I already gots dat wit my Rumble Studio 40, which weighs more, but I think the 10" speaker over the two 4"s would be worth it. Still, it's an intriguing gadget. Like a cross between the Rumble Studio and the Vox VX50BA! :woot:

I certainly hope that at that point, we'll have plenty of masks, ventilators, and more people fully trained to run the ventilators than we have now, so it *should* be a less extreme version than this spring.

Optimism, pass it on. :)

Shh...it's 'cuz he, you know who doesn't like to hear about non-combos here.
