The Combo Club

Not to get kicked out before I get in but I use combos because they sound so excellent as the creations they are. ... ...

Paraphrasing The Combo Club mantra will NOT get you kicked out of here, chadda.
.
... ... I wouldn't use an SWR Redhead, I'd use a Goliath Jr and an SM 400. Way more portable!
The AER is quite heavy but in my old age I still workout, walk and bike ride.
I bought it when I thought my BBII was DNR but it was fine and 8" still exist for it. ... ...

chaddley, good on ya for staying strong as long as you can! Keep on keeping on!
.
... ... So sue me I have two combos. :) ... ...

Just 2 combos?!? Why, that's just The Club starter kit! If you breathe the rarefied atmosphere in The Combo Club Clubhouse for very long you'll soon be covered up in combos! :woot:
.
... ... The AER is way louder and projects way farther. The BBII just sounds so amazing.

I don't think it's too preliminary to welcome you to The Combo Club, chaddy. Enjoy! ;)

Thank You!

Wait! I forgot a combo! I have another! My apologies to the little one.

I bought an SWR LA-8 basically because it was so compact and the recessed handle was the size of the whole side. It sounded okay. It has a baked in SWR sound I liked. I played a wake with it and a '57 P ri. I played a pub gig but it was too quiet. Easiest load in and out ever though.

Then.......So I blew a Celestion in my BBII. So when I replaced them both with those 160w each LDS 8"s I had an extra working 8". OH MY! Completely taking the amp out I got that white coned budget driver replaced with this pro Celestion. The wind that comes out of the jacks is tsunami force. But wait there's more.

I plugged a Summit TD-100 into the line in bypassing the pre and it's just so rich sounding. Since the Summit fits in a padded Meisel tamborine bag the load in is insignificant. The LA-8's pre is the weak link. This combination Summit and Celestion LA-8 is way louder and full frequency. It's perfect for house concerts and practice with acoustic guitarist singer songwriters. You can get full on big loud forceful bass tone like you had a big amp loud on stage at acoustic scale.

Great description, chadds. Could you add a picture of the SWR combo to your next post? I’m curious to see what it looks like minus the white speaker, which I never dated for myself. I’ll ring you up with a number then. Thanks!

Kicked out? Can we even DO that? G-Dog, what's the rule here?

Far as I've seen, you can only leave of your own volition. And maybe not even then.

Nice post, I always dreamed of owning an SWR Redhead.
:D

Kickink (out, in, up one side or other) is strictly Fearless Leader's jurisdiction! Tripple naught spy has only license to shill. Even Sergeant-at-Arms can only twist arms to comply, I am believink.

Some other Clubs allow members to think as they wish, but name & number stays on roster 'til forever! "You can be checkink out any time you want. But you can never leave!"

However, since chaddrack does have not any official member number yet, how can he be out without first beink in? FL perhaps still doing background checks!

She and Johnny Rivers(and his band)did a show on USS Enterprise, CVA(N)65*, in '67. I was about 10' from her. She was in a skin-tight black leotard that nicely set off her red hair. Stunning! Our Navy band had done a warm-up so we were on the same "stage"(forward aircraft elevator about 8' above the hangar bay floor).

*ETA: I always specify this so no one thinks I was on NCC-1701-D:smug:

‘Dog speaks the truth. As far as chadd are currently in negotiations and should have an answer very soon. In the meantime, we’ll take questions from the press.

.
Mr. "Leader"! This is "Rex" Sterling, with "Bulldog News". Do you expect negotiations to lead to confirmation of the current candidate for membership, i.e. chadds? And I have a follow up question.

If the candidate is, indeed, confirmed, will they be issued the controversial "Combo Club Comm Badge" that was reportedly at the center of the hazmat incident just weeks ago? Rumors of nuclear material have not been confirmed, but are strongly implied in the incident. And the denials by your representative, with the heavy accent, have been found to be in contradiction with many confirmed reports of the incident. And how does this link to the use of combo bass amplifiers being used to prevent further incidents? Would you please comment on this, sir?

Rex, we’re feeling quite upbeat about said confirmation and am just waiting for said confirmation, which I’m feeling quite upbeat about, Rex.

BTW, my TB poll numbers are currently higher then three other major clubs’ leaders and I thought you might like to know.

As far as that club badge incident, I want you all to know that the bass player’s hand should be as good as new after the skin grafting takes hold...

My spokesman with the amazingly bizarre-looking accent is beyond reproach, in my opinion, and I will not listen to any kind of slanderous accusations towards him...unless they come from me. Anyway, he’s recently modified his ring formula to exclude the radioactive materials previously used.

Finally, and I appreciate the question. It’s my belief that combo bass amps can be utilized for more applications than just playing music through.

For example, did you know, Rex, that a decent-sized Combo makes for an outstanding TV tray in the living room? Just watch out you don’t spill your soda into any of the I/Os.

And in the winter snows, there’s nothing better than a pair of full-size Peavey combos to replace those old sandbags in the back of your F-150 for better traction. Perfect cross-utilization, I say!

I must go now. #2 is waiting for me in the House Chamber for some debriefing matters.

Have a great night, everyone!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled program for this breaking news bulletin:

"Good day, ladies and gentlemen. This is "Rex" Sterling with "Bulldog News" bringing you a stunning news update.

Authorities are cautiously optimistic that an unprecedented breakthrough in physics is imminent from the acknowledged world leading "Think Tank" known in scientific circles as "The Combo Club". Yes, that wondrous organization already famous for its advanced technology, such as holodecks and even a purported teleportation system, may be poised to announce another amazing scientific advancement.

The organization's premier CEO, the popular and charismatic figure known only as "Fearless Leader", hinted at the news in his last press conference when he mentioned the exclusion of radioactive materials from a key device that is ubiquitous within the group. Our consulting science resources say this could only mean that some radically new miniature power source is being readied for test trials, if not actual field implementation. But those closest to Mr. "Leader" are characteristically secretive about any specifics of this new development.

Discussions in the scientific community range from quantum state nano-singularities to approximations of "dark matter", or "dark energy", which most scientists reject as being too speculative at this time. But the shadowy figure within "The Club", who enjoys "Fearless Leader's" full confidence, has strongly implied that just such esoteric principles may be involved in their current research.

Rest assured, ladies and gentlemen, that "Bulldog News" will bring you all the latest information as it becomes available in this exciting development.

This is "Rex" Sterling wishing you and yours a safe and enjoyable day.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

safer.........

Is beink too late for withdrawal now. Die is cast. Wheels in motion. Application is on file and beink processed by His Excellency, Fearless Leader, himself as we speak. And he has, sensibly, negotiated extradition agreements with all other organizations and clubs. (Sensible of them, that is. :sour: Heh, heh, heh.) I actually believe he is leaning in your favor, in which case you will havink no worries. Otherwise, worries galore if failink Leader's review, since he assumes personal insolence of unqualified applicants, and nowhere to hide. BWAhahaha!

Besides, is beink your great honor and opportunity to be first recipient of new improved Club Badge you may be hearink mentioned on the news recently. And, if you survi..., uh, . . . . I mean, after successful implementation by you, then others will also receive, too. Everybody win, no?
