The Combo Club

Yeah, they’re called headphones!

RR, as I’m nearing my Decision 2020, I’m finding myself being pulled in by your GK tractor beam, if you know what I’m getting at! I just dunno, but I’m giving it serious thought.
Aiding. And abetting.

Pretty good deal. Mine is the E model, this is the S. The differences are so subtle that I've forgotten what they are.

But, on the other hand, a Precision is also very nice. My shorty is as close as I get to that, and I think it's the best little thick bass tone monster going.

I feel for you looking for a left handed model, so I made it easier...

No need to thank me, your happiness is my reward! :D

Hey membership, I’ve gotta a couple of small tasks I’d like ya to do this weekend, if you’ll be so kind.

One is to support Soul Reflections new thread on sixties music and bass and players. It’s blowing up and I’ve seen a few of you there already. Jump in if you like that era of music.

My other request is to add your two cents to the guy who started a fun thread based on your favorite and least favorite combo amps for bass. It was fun to read (and I held off commenting) the opinions of most TB members I’ve never heard from before. One loves the Rumble v3 and the next hates ‘em. Ya can’t be this much fun at home!

Get over there and drop off your opinion to make the thread even better. I’ve already invited anyone to wander this way if they are fit. Who knows, 200 members might not be that far away.

Thanks for showing CC pride and comradeship!
Done (note change in my signature line) and going to do! Roger, wilco, FL!

Just for the tease, but I'm not convinced that's a combo. The speakers are external in a different housing, right? So then, you have an amp head plugged into your bass with the world's shortest cable! :woot:
Yea, yea I'm aware it's a headphone amp - but it RESEMBLES a little bass combo amp! Sooooo - I just refer to it as the worlds smallest bass combo amp :p

I saw a nice left handed HCT on Reverb. It has has the teacup knob upgrades already and a nice tweed case for around 800 USD. It has the traditional spacing on the pickups, but folks sometimes modify them to get the Cavern spacing. It's easy to do since the pickups are mounted on top of the body. That opens up possibilities too I think.

I looked tonight but didn’t see the one you described. In fact, other then a ton of Ignitions, I didn’t see much of anything. Signs are pointing to skipping a bass guitar purchase right now. Curses you, Rogue bass! I may have to make room for it next to me in the casket...or urn.

Could you possibly be any nicer, RR? Passing on the CVP because I’ve already got a sunburst and Mrs. FL even said to get something else looks-wise. I never say no when she’s supporting me spending money! Much appreciated though!

Ya need a lefty Epi TBird VP.

What's a Grecian urn? Oh, 'bout $9.50 an hour.

GP, if there was a lefty ‘Bird that was a non-sunburst and with a smaller headstock, I’d buy it tonight. The problem is that’s as rare as about anything else I’ve looked for. Even a couple of Fenders are on back order.

Either I wait or I’m going after an amp...tonight! There’s even a Kasino in the GC used dept.

Sounds like everlasting love...awwwwwwwwwwww!

Yeah, you understand now why our whisky club meetings tend to run long. I'm usually the one saying, "yeah it is great! But have you tried this one yet?" I've had friends on the TB forums steer me toward great deals that I didn't know about, so I thought I'd send you some options I found.

That little GK is a dang nice deal. Wish I would have spent that little on mine. :greedy:

I thought that you were talking about wanting a sunburst P-bass, but maybe that was a different friend on the forums. I get confused sometimes... I did remember that you were seeking left-handed models, correct? I'd like to think I'm not that confused. Or am I? :wacky:

Lefty, yes. Sunburst, no plans to purchase another in this lifetime though. Both basses are said sunburst finish, and very nice versions of the look. The next one, unless it’s a Hofner, which must be a sunburst by law, needs to be a great-looking solid like tidepool.

I’m finishing my lunch break and then it’s back to work. I chose to be a bad boy yesterday and not work up to my abilities, so today I’d my Friday redo. Virtual school begins in earnest on Monday until May 22nd.

We were given the word yesterday by the gov that educating children in the brick and mortars is officially finis for the year. The governor said she’s waving our normal startup time for 20-21, meaning the first of August looks likely. That’s until the state fair people have their say. All in all, my home is my school and the homework begins Monday!

But Jack cannot grow up a dull boy, so I decided to celebrate with a purchase that took longer to decide then the building of the Sphinx. I finally bought something in the wee hours of the morning, but went to bed feeling pretty good about, though it’s gonna make many of you scratch your heads wondering, what???

It’s invading IA on Wednesday via FedEx. It’s a beast. It’s mighty mean. It’s what you buy when you’re overtired. It goes against all common sense and the grain of clear thought.

It is not a bass guitar. I’m standing pat until something changes in time. I’ll wait for the signs.

It is not a combo either. I seriously cannot find room for yet one more combo, though I looked at them the same way as a doctor looks at a tumor; with great interest.

It’s meant to be paired with my PF-210 HE cabinet which is a true bottom feeder. If you like deep bass, this is a solid cab.

It’s loud to the point of obnoxiousness, though I most likely won’t experience that with my violin bass and CSN songs.

It totally doesn’t fit my usual motif and that’s why I like it. It’s an oddball like me, including the fact it’s a blemished model, though I could afford a new one. Something about a combination of snarling and downtrodden interests me.

Be here in either Wednesday evening or Thursday sometime for the unveiling. Any and all guesses will be welcomed and appreciated. In fact, if you are a true visionary and guess it, I will sanction G’Dog to forge you your very own ring for being the best guesser in the club!

To be fair, here’s a hint: while it’s glass inside is quite clear, the company name of this mystery device is quite colorful.

Good hunting!
