OK, anybody have any thoughts re the BG-75? I don't 'need' any more amps but, well....what's need got to do with it anyway?

I was reading about it. IDK if it's something I have any real need for, but it looks interesting. And light.The BG-75 is the Double Four ....
Yeah I thought I vaguely remembered you had one. And I'm sure you talked about your impressions of it. However, I have a chronic case of CRAFT(Can't Remember A Freakin' Thing). Since I strive for a cross between a Jamerson and Kaye tone, and I play(ed) small venues, curiosity has taken hold of my feeble brain. And equally feeble bank account, thus no BG-800.
GP, I’ve sung the praises of this little wonder that truly defies physics. If you’ll remember, your Fearless Leader wasn’t crazy about it at first. Quite boxy, not much bass response compared to what I had been told, and frankly, kinda boring.
As far as quality craftsmanship goes though, I never gave less than superlative marks. It feels like NASA built it! I thought MarkBass was put together nicely, this PJB stuff is but once and be happy.
Then a few weeks into it I ran the gain a little higher than a had been and played s little more aggressively with my Jazz bass and voila’, it grew out of its teething stage and put the big boy pants on. Bottom was much nicer, it filled the room with no strain, and yet quite musical.
Did I mention it’s under nine pounds soaking wet (but don’t try proving that)? Two 35-watt amps each running a 4” driver specifically designed for this model. And yes, it is built like the proverbial _ _ _ _ house.
It’s pricy and no will deny that, but if you’d like something you can will to your favorite nephew, this is it. A very tough practice and jam/small gig amp to beat.

Yeah, I've noticed that, like my Rumbles, gain is run differently than a lotta amps. And on my one Peavey, it's different in another way(no gain, no sound. Weird).
Thanks for the recap. My stimulus check is burning a hole in my pocket (or head). And since Epiphone is dragging their feets on the hoped for VP, RI, NR, TBII/IV*, I'm experiencing GAS pains.

‘Kay, so I’m a total noob to electrical instruments of any sort. What exactly is gain, and how is it different from volume? If I turn the gain way up on the Peavey, I have to drop the volume to practically nil in order to practice without rattling everybody’s eardrums. I also notice a harsher edge to the tone with the gain turned up...
I thought I knew but I googled it to confirm..."Volume is how loud the OUTPUT of the channel or amp is. ... Gain is how loud the INPUT of the channel or amp is. It controls tone, not loudness."
GP, I’m so excited for ya! And to prove how closely I read your posts, I remember that post a few weeks ago where you were listing the various T-Birds. The fact you were asking about the D4 made me wonder if you were setting your sights on gear acquisition or not.
If you don’t find a bass ya want, you could do a lot worse than grabbing a PJB. I’d also recommend looking at the Micro 7 (M mentioned that one to me a light year ago) and the Session 100. Four times heavier than the Double Four but sounds like a great combo.
Finally, if you can sew up the hole in your pocket a bit longer, you might find a return or floor demo for way less pesos. Still, if ya just decide to go for it, you have my support!
Recon, we love ya! You’re the kind of member most of enjoy writing to because we can answer those kinds of questions. Now, ask me why people love fancy-flavored coffees, I have no idea, but pre and post-volume...we can do it!

Gibby/Epi are going through a bit of turmoil with the reorganization. They don't seem to be doing anything significant in basses-for now.
I went a'googling and seemed to have developed a wild hair in an inconvenient area. For some reason this(OK, yesterday's)AM, I thought I'd look into PJB's offerings. I mean, I have Rumbles in 40, 100, 200c, and 112 cab versions, plus my turn of the century Bassman 25 from 7ender. Then there's the 2 Peavey's and I mustn't leave out the granddaddy of 'em all: the Kasino. Still, it's fun to speculate. Ve shall see vat ve shall see. See? iSi!
BTW, MF has an 'open box' black D4 for $422.39

There seems to have been a lot of love for those Les Paul Junior Tributes DC, but I think not enough units sold and they were discontinued. I was very tempted to get one when they were one sale a few months back.

It certainly interested me, and in slightly different circumstance would be an owner and player now. Always grateful for basses that aren't FSOs. Although the Les Paul Junior Tribute is said to approach a 7ender tone.
Nah, it might be a middle pickup bass but it never sounded like a FSO. Then again I put a proper Tbird pickup in and it sounds like a proper Gibson now
