Uhh...so my contribution was stinky? Rollins wouldn’t use anything modern, don't ya think? I see his playing would reflect what 60s jazz players might have used back then. Old school clean.

Okay, if you’re forcing me to choose a new model, it’d have to be something by PJB. And I’m not just saying that either because it’s currently my favorite modern, clean amp.

Yes and no. Wheels? Yes, but with 2 handles on the sides. Sorta like a built in hand truck. (Imagine the wheels)

That's a very different model/setup than mine. That's a passive cab. I wanted to get one of the 8x12 powered cabs. Each extension cab had an amp in it. Just straight, no controls at all-and no access other than a connection. Tone, volume, selective boost all controlled by the preamp section like on mine. You could in theory have an unlimited number of extension cabs as long as there was sufficient electricity to handle the load. I've never seen a used powered cab listed anywhere since I bought mine new in '70.:(
Now that I think on it, that cab would be sorta useless as my Kasino doesn't have extension speaker out; only 'line out' which would require a powered extension, like the GK 4x10 or the new Blackstar 1x15 powered extension. It'd sound massive though.

Polytone got its start with an accordionist, Tommy Gumino, who wanted something better than what was on the market. Built in L.A., Polytone became the benchmark for jazz amps for many years. They were used with bass as well, in clubs and showrooms around the world. Even today, when their circuits are as obsolete as can be, they are still well regarded and change hands for good prices on ebay and Reverb.

Well, you how the terrible twos are. They think their 30 and independent. I’d say a big pic would be okay.

And to celebrate SSE today, #2 and I will be sans all clothing today, wearing posies in our hair, and recording “Eye of the Tiger” for the Corona Orchestra using the Ampeg BA-108 v2+. I’ll post pics too! :hyper:

What a day it’s gonna be!

As of 2001, Sonny Rollins' long-time bassist, Bob Cranshaw, did not use a combo, alas:

I generally use a Gallien-Krueger head and a SWR cabinet when I’m on the road, because everything is rented. And usually when I’m around town I’ll bring my Walter Woods amp, and I can get a nice warm sound from it, depending upon what speaker cabinets I’m driving with it. And if I’m in some place where I’m playing both instruments, then the Walter Woods is the only thing I use. And if I’m playing acoustic upright, I’ll use a combination of the Woods and a mic, to get a proper mix of both sounds.
