Well technically you can play bass through any amp. It’s just a question of what you like. Was it Carole Kaye that was partial to guitar amps instead of bass amps?

I practiced through my sons 10watt squier amp for a couple of weeks before I got my first bass amp.

I’m sure you’ll like it. I’ve heard only good things about Blackstar.

FWIW, I played bass through this(P______ keyboard amp w/1x15, horn, piezo tweeter) EDIT: For those who don't know, I refuse to say-or type-the name of this manufacturer due to disliking their current business practices. That amp is from b4 they "changed". I'm not throwing it away.

There’s a few people on here that swear by piano amps. Which makes sense. Piano has a much greater range so any Amp has to handle a big range of frequencies

I always mod my basses.
I’ve thought about modding amps-well really having them modded.
I’m not very handy.
...but doing the same thing:
Maybe trying a different speaker in my BA115s.
I’ve found a neodymium one that would probably sound good AND shed some weight.
Please tell me about that BA108!

but it looks like it’s 8 ohm. Is the stock for all BAs 4 ohm?
Do you know of a good 4 ohm 15” speaker that’s light?

Well, it’s not happening any time soon...
I’m just practicing “like a mad thing”

I’ve got a really good feeling about this band.
I’ve been putting in 2-3 hours a day for the last week or so.
Last night I blasted the stereo and cranked one of the BA115s to 8 out of 10 volume wise to get a feel for my gear.
I’m actually taking a break from practicing to post this!

My only reply before I begin Zzzzzz...

Your 15” BA115 v2 speaker is 8 ohms. I would only replace with similar specs so nothing goes FRITZ! Yep, you might reduce the weight a bit with a neo speaker, and it might be a tad tighter with a more pronounced midrange punch (like M’s and my 108 v2 +). Would it worth a much larger expense than our lil ole eight? Only your wallet knows that answer. I probably wouldn’t.

Congrats!!! Sounds like you've landed in a great situation. Finding the right bandmates is rare, but I was lucky enough to make some friends for life - and we're still rocking it 25 years later!

Let's hope 2021 brings an end to the covid and we can get back to improving everyones life with LIVE MUSIC!!

I agree. I was just starting to work my way into gigging when covid shut me down.
I could tell the guitarist/BL and I were going to get along just from interacting before the audition.
His favorite band is Led Zeppelin and we have a really good female singer who sings them well so we’ll be playing a lot of Zep. This is good for me because I’m really going to have to get better to handle these songs. It was a personal win to be able to handle The Ocean for the audition!

The singer is based out of Vero and plays as far south as Boca so I’m

Oh, how could I forget:
Combo report.
I used one BA115 in wedge mode with no PA support.
I could have used the other one, but it was more about conserving space. Next time I think I’ll go single BA115 wedge again, but run the line out to the PA for sound distribution.
