The Combo Club

Most surprised by what a very large cube the MB Jeff Berlin combo is. No doubt, it's a cube. Saw it at the local youth music school. Didn't get a chance to play it. No sum of Jeff Berlin basses and amps are ever going to make me sound like Jeff — and I never saw that benefit advertised by any brand :)

Yeah it's massive even compared to other 15" combos.

Fun times ahead for ya, GP, hope ya scored some shrimp! I have a soft spot for those unique places like the rehab center you're gonna play at next week. Never a more appreciative crowd of folks enjoying the music they may have grown up with. When I played in a duo a few years back we made nursing homes a priority, partially because of my dad being in one, but also because there was such a demand for free entertainment that brought back fun memories for so many. I aim to get back to that kind of gigging once the ship pulls into port and it's safe to venture into such establishments. Have fun!

As far as that famed honeymoon period you discuss, I've been through that time too often not to be wary. At the same time, I've gotten a lot faster at determining how much I like a product too. I'm keeping expectations within reason, but last night I did notice my Vox combo solicit its own CL ad for a new home. Interesting.
A) No, I don't eat bait. The gig is this(3/19)evening.
2) The rehab/nursing facility is one that I've played-with different bands-onandoff for ~20 years,+/-.
D)I've seen a few amps or(?)I'd like to try, but not enuff to tie up funds I don't have*and deal with returning something nearly as big as the Kasino. I have no interest in recording-unless it's in live performances of whatever group I happen to playing with, so, thusly, I'm happy as a clam[I don't eat those either-not since Howard Johnson disappeared]at high tide with my Rumbles.

*Where's the dang "Prize Patrol"? They said they were coming...

Used to go to HJ's with my oldies. Loved the fried clams. Haven't found any yet that compare. My daughter is allergic to fish/shellfish/etc., so I pretty much quit eating seafood. As long as there's pork available, I'm good.:)

I don’t dislike seafood but never understood why people like shrimp so much. Kinda rubbery and I intensely dislike preparing them. Crab may be more work but the payoff is better.

HoJo's was where I was introduced to fried clams at the age of 12, and fond to my utter surprise that I liked them. I don't recall them being offered as a combo, just a platter or in a big hot dog bun. Tone-wise, they were fairly neutral until you rolled on some upper mids bite via the tartar sauce knob.

I stand corrected. Well, enjoy your fish tonight!

True, but I wonder if one day you might wish to try one of their modeling combos. You know, so you can get that luscious Ampeg tone we all crave. :smug:

Prize Patrol? Sorry, but Edna is out with lumbago until the middle of next week. Check back then.

Nicely played, Miles. I’d think to get the kinda tone you’re looking for in your combo, you’ll be paying at least 500 clams, minus the sauce.
