I seriously thought about taking the head out of my combo but in my case the head itself was a big chunk of the overall weight.
Thanks for the input!! Still waiting for the Bugera 15... I think the no tweeter BUT aluminum cone speaker is an intriguing combo (pun INTENDED ). Should yield a versatile range of tones.

A casual confirmation by doing the RTFM thing confirms my Phil Jones BG-400 combo is full range: 35Hz - 15KHz. There are no tweeters. That's the Piranha drivers working as designed.
Strictly fingerstyle here, and everything beyond 5KHz is dealt with the cab sim (fridge) on the VT Bass. It's a proper low pass filter roll off at 5KHz, from all sources I can find. The HPF function of the VT Bass is much gentler and perfectly functional as is.
Incoming with the Acinonyx is a free NordyMute. With the cat bass' deep roll off filter on, plus the NordyMute, there isn't going to be anything near 5KHz to reproduce. But my combo can if I want

Right. So I guess leaving one out for a students combo would be to cut costs or to encourage students to focus on fundamental tone. I can see it truthfully being the former but the company claiming it’s the latter!

I saw you on the Markbass Facebook group. I have the same stack but have yet to gig it.
Did not look at all the post,and all the combo's posted. Managed to get this off individual in a moving sale. Ampeg B2 Combo. Real reasonable deal,probably for what a speaker would cost? Decent shape,but weighs around 87lbs,at least it has wheels!

Hey, it's a "classic". What's not to love about that? Now, if one was to offer me a B-15N, really cheap, I would not turn it down but, I do not think that is going to happen anytime soon...there are classics and then there are classics IMHO.

We've got a very good player in the MTftBP cohort with a B-15N.
Mine own is a near-thing, a pedal, and been playing it with "fliptop" settings more and more. The default fliptop setting has way too much treble to my ear, and ain't no tweeter on this BA108v2+ combo

To say I was pleasantly surprised would be a serious understatement. I really just set it flat and started playing. Sounded great. I have another gig where my amp stays on the band trailer and I’m thinking of trying out another Markbass combo for that gig.
