The Combo Club

As my dad used to say, "Well..., they didn't stone us".
It went pretty well. We used guitar, drums, me, and a sax player 'friend of the band'. Most of the ppl came for the shrimp(yuk!)and fish(ditto), but the 'hangers on' liked us.

And thank goodness for those hangers on. Who needs those shrimp and fish lovers anyway? My bands’ hanger ons, for some reason, seemed to always be drunk guys and not cute girls. Life is so unfair.

Glad you had a good night. Bye all!

Very well behaved crowd. Guys weren't drunk; girls weren't cute.

Ummm, well a combo is involved...
My DI effects box, the Dapper Bass came earlier this week- got to play around with it today through the trusty Rumble 40 with minimal gain, and EQ flat.

Fun unit!! The bass amp section is great! Does the Ampeg thing well, and covers other ground as well. Boost and comp work well- can be used subtly, or not at all- I like a touch of comp, but that’s me. The envelope filter with fuzz switch? FUN, Fun, fun! :woot: “Jive Talkin’” anyone? The analog octave is functional- knobs for dry, 1 and 2 octaves down. Nice synth-y options. Chorus is one parameter depth knob, but the effect is nice..speed not too fast or too slow. The knobs have enough resistance not to wander off setting, and light up nicely!

The bright tuner also mutes the signal, and there are a number of output options- 1/4” unbalanced to amp (or headphones!), XLR out with ground lift switch, 1/4” thru to send dry signal elsewhere for other stuff, and even effects send/return to put other pedals in chain (after amp section, before octave and chorus). Even came with its own wall wart 9V center negative power supply! Sweet!!
Fun so far! Lucky I pulled the trigger when I did on Amazon- price jumped $20 two days after I purchased:smug: lucky, I guess.
Well, still waiting on Bugera 15” combo. Another overtime day next Saturday- I keep banking the OT, maybe...:bassist::woot:
Carl-

edit- checked Amazon- back down to $129 that I paid- seems a good deal-

That price jump was probably computer driven and the result of you buying it. When no one else was taking the price reverted.

I noticed the same thing when I bought my Eden head. It was listed by the same
guy on reverb and eBay and after I bought it he raised the price by $20.

‘Morning, 68! Though I know you’re anxious about the Bugera’s arrival, at least you have something fun (and quite colorful) to mess with while you’re waiting. For $129 you picked up a lot of sound options. Since I’ve never used the brand myself, I’ll be interested to see how it holds up over the long term. Best of luck while you wait for your combo!

Did not look at all the post, and all the combo's posted. Managed to get this off individual in a moving sale. Ampeg B2 Combo. Real reasonable deal, probably for what a speaker would cost? Decent shape, but weighs around 87lbs,at least it has wheels!View attachment 4210684

CD, I forgot to ask you if you’re either a) are you a current member of our little combo fan club, or b) would you like me to give you a membership number? You’ve already done the heavy lifting by posting a pic. As soon as I get the door opened to Command Central I’ll check my roster. Thanks!

Oh, you bought a light show upgrade for your combo.... That's what happens when you leave George Clinton alone in a room with the Christmas tree. Enjoy your new addition.:hyper:

You, my B2 buddy, are officially member #232! You're in luck too. Because you are our 232nd member, the club, for no extra charge, will haul your heavy Ampeg around for an entire year. Whatcha think of that? Anywhere you want it moved, call my good friend and our Sargeant at Arms, G'Dog, and he'll have transportation reservations set up for you within 30 minutes or he'll haul it on his back for free. Give him a little water and he'll be as good as new.

I'm sure he'll be on shortly to go over all the contractual mumbo-jumbo with you. I'm not really the detail person in this outfit but more the big-picture guy. That and I like to buy gear...

Speaking of distant memories, here's my B2 back in the day. The first shot is when I found it at our former Music Go Round in Davenport. It says 2011. Ten years already? The second shot is after cleanup!

What I tell ya, pure genius. He also performs at birthday parties but is kinda expensive. Shh...

I do want to warn ya about that badge contraption thingy he mentioned. I tried a prototype a few months ago, beamed it on my Fender Stage 800 and it wound up at Dog’s house! I have no idea how or why that happened and 007 isn’t saying much, but he promised I should get it back soon.

At least, that’s what he says...:meh:

Heh, heh, heh! A mere glitch, Fearless Leader, which was worked out before release to the general membership. That's what you get for insisting on beta testing! And don't worry, my leetle plotkin, your Fender Rumble Stage 800 is being cleaned up to be returned to you good as new. Byt, it may take a while the glitch left it pretty messy due to traveling to ectoplasmic dimensions. We fixed it to now travel only through thoroughly sanitized dimensions! Heh, heh, heh, ... ...

Thanks for the input!! Still waiting for the Bugera 15... I think the no tweeter BUT aluminum cone speaker is an intriguing combo (pun INTENDED ). Should yield a versatile range of tones.

Free NordyMute!!! Nice! I got a free mute as well for my avatar bass- really Nails the Motown fingerstyle thump groove!! You are gonna LOVE IT!! View attachment 4210238

Spongebob?

BTW, FWIW, we really do have flying squirrels around here. No moose, though.
View attachment 4211011

Plenty of moose in the Alaska boonies where our daughter lives. A moose in the driveway (or on occasion on the porch) is a perfectly valid reason to be late for anything.

News Alert: as I wrap up my wonderful week off and back to inquisitive children tomorrow, I thought I’d leave you with what I couldn’t get C7 to spill to us. Here’s what looks like Ampeg’s 2021 new combo lineup.

Search Results

Don’t know if these are replacements to the BA-line or maybe additions, but my guess is they’re gonna come at a higher price regardless of the Canadian pricing.

I do like their 115 lighter-weight combo with stepped-up power and classic Rocket design. Even an ext speaker out...about time!

I’m thinking maybe 500-600 greenbacks. Solid all-around practice and gigging combo if Yamaha did their homework.

I know, let’s but one for GP...he’ll love it! Then again, if he doesn’t I’ll take it off his hands. You’re welcome.

Now keep this club a-going folks, okay? I’ll see ya during the week.

Wow!! Now you have me second guessing!! That Rocket 115 looks....ummmm...awesome?? Hmmm.
