@ghostinthemach best of luck and prayers for your wife. It sounds like you too are taking advantage of the downsizing all the bass players are going to nowadays. Combos are a nice solution for quick setup and departure. I was not a big fan of the Rumble series but a lot of TB'ers here like them, as I said, we all have individual tastes. As long as it sounds good to you that's what counts!

Glad you've been able to scale back your work for your wife. Mine just had a scare and she's better now. But it sure makes you realize what's important in life, right? :thumbsup:

I’ve been searching for the best setup for my Sunday morning worship band. The church is fairly young and is using an amazing newly-renovated high school auditorium.

The down side is we set up everything every Sunday morning.

I started with a multi-piece set-up consisting of a 4 spc rack containing an 11 Rack and Crown xls2500 power amp. For cabs two Hartke HyDrive 112s.

I wasn’t fully happy with that setup over the ensuing weeks as it was a lot of pieces, cable connects and details for our production, because it added a lot of tasks for such a short usage period.

Now I intend to test the trusty combo strategy in that situation. If the Stage 800 gives the tonality I need both onstage and in the house system (house appears to be about 70k watts of flown mains and installed sub QSC gear), i’ll likely put the stack on the block to sell.

Because my wife’s health is in serious jeopardy, I’ve eliminated all of the work those separate components were originally purchased for, about 50-60% of my bookings. That work is just too far from home. Almost every gig I do now is 20 minutes from home and equipment needs are just different.

I still have a very nice ‘vintage’ collection including my avatar ACC 126. I only get to use my bigest stuff a couple times a year.

I’m certain to try the Rumble Stage with my retro act The Rockits and it could become my go to for my electric bands.

First and foremost, I pray your wife's health improves and you both enjoy many, many more years of wedded bliss and peace. You have my sincere prayers for the best possible outcome from your current trials.

But, on the next issue, [SNARL] how dare you, sir! Oh, you should be quite highly assured that you are, indeed, a "moste evile influense" in my particular g.a.s. area, "Mister" ghostinthemach! :rage:

I seek to take refuge here from the myriad g.a.s. influences in the Fender Rumble Club, with it's very nearly 1,000 members, especially from the Rumble Stage and Studio topics. Yet, even here, I succumb to vapors awaiting Killed_by_Death's review of the Vox VX50BA 10 lb. amp, all the while thinking that I should just go ahead and order my own, too. At least it's not a Rumble, so I could possibly break the hold they seem to have on my brain. And alas, this very morning I had to read in the Fender Rumble Club of a new Stage 800 owner who also has two of the black-on-black matching 210 cabs!!! The essential stuff of my most fevered dreams!

Wow @G-Dog, that was quite an emotional journey you took us on. Felt like one of those thrill rides that have an hour wait to board but, without the wait, lol.

Yes I do still have the components comprising the top secret Rumble V1 Studio 60 prototype, although there have been no further sightings of that rig.

I sincerely apologize for the er...transformation I’ve at least contributed to in conjunction with the dreaded Rumble Club and I think I should head right over there and give them a list of my gear... or rather a piece a my mind. Yes that’s it. What are they thinking over there anyway?

On a more serious note, thanks for the kind thoughts for my wife. Our family therapist has advised me to stay active in music in spite of her chronic illness and I probably would have tried to any way. Music is in my blood and at this point helps with my overall stability.

I apologize for my outburst. It is impolite and unprofessional. It's not your fault that I can't always control myself. It's just when I think of the Rumble Stage or Studio I get so . . . [SNAR... . . . NO! (ahem)...(sniff) . . . (deep breath) . . .

Yes, by all means, join the Club. Please also re-post the prototype, as there are so many requests for a pedal or head version of the Stage/Studio. I've suggested it there, but I don't think they always take me seriously, though heaven only knows why they wouldn't.

I reckon I'm a minority here.i love both for different reasons. I own both Rumble and GK amps. And I'm not ashamed of it either. I use them both for different reasons and the same reasons all the same. I wouldn't have it any other way.

No real mystery here from one who played in front of her early 80s TNT 100, and ya know what that sucker is loud. Which is really what Peavey is to me, besides weight. Had that combo driving a 115 cab and it felt like I was playing a real rig. In the time and place everyone I knew totally wanted a Mesa, and a brass nut, and Seymour Duncans on their Fender. A sea of Fenders, and very happy Fender players. Here and there a Gibson (the Ripper and Grabber were cool!) a BC Rich, one Rickenbacker 4001, and me and my StingRay. Oh not just me, there is a guy and he has a StingRay just a few serial numbers from mine. I play his and he plays mine and offers me his and money on top of the trade. Sorry Charlie, only the best tuna get to be StarKist.

That's the scene, and we hoist none too few lemonades too.

And it is I who decides after a very long day it is an excellent day to put Solstice Eve on my back, head downtown and plunk that twanger. It's the open mike thing, and not been since whatever that hit me hit me. Never did get the number of that truck. Figure I can knock out a few tunes on this thing. I need to be seen around this town as a reasonably competent player. Ain't no better way to go about it that I know of.

What I didn't figure on is checking to see if the open mike is still running. Which it is not. At least when I get there. Crickets. Nobbies eating pizza with forks and such. But no stage to-night for itinerant bassists.

But I'm out of the house, it's a Tuesday, haven't got any other plans, and feeling altogether too good not to drop in a friendly lemonade stand and

because no more than a couple hours ago the nephrologist says my kidney functions are normal again for the first time in more than two years.

Oh and for what it's worth that breakfast upthread still looks good. My body just can't take it, though. Pretty much all my body can manage is vegetarian Indian food and I'm not even a vegetarian. (Made a curry with chicken and okra and it was pretty tasty.) And reasonably sure I'm not Indian. Still working on that human part, had ya fooled, ya? :: laughs ::

Yaay-hay-hay!!! What great news, Morrighan!!! That is SO good to read. :hyper: Sweet memories, validation of your beloved bass, kickin' down the streets and feelin' groovy! (feelin' groovy)

I, too, have had a very good day. Walking better every day. I expected a full release today, 6 weeks after minor back surgery. The NP agreed I was doing very well, but to continue lifting and bending restrictions! And, they wanna see me again in 6 more weeks! What!?! But I gave her a big smile and said, "If I'm feeling this good I might just 'phone it in'!" And she didn't say, 'no', but just smiled and winked, which I take as tacit approval!.

So, after we get home from the supermarket Grand Opening, I decide to treat myself. Mrs. Dog & I had discussed my lifting restrictions in the Dr.'s waiting room, so I ordered a Vox VX50BA! I'm allowed a 10 lb. lift, so . . .

Well, the race is on. Will Killed_by_Death get his replacement before I receive my order? Tune in next time to "As The Stomach Turns", when G-Dog says, "Whatayamean delayed? It was 'In Stock' when I ordered!!" And KBD says, "It arrived, but . . . " Brought to you by Jax, the beal jeer!

What it seems to me I look for most in a combo amp ...

... for starters talking about a gig situation with a FOH and a channel to call mine on the mixing board. Now I know that's kind of wishful thinking but beggars and horses and all of that. As my situation now appears to call on "travel as lightly as possible". My amp as a stage monitor, that is, or my amp as my amp where The Who level of decibels isn't what we had in mind. "He's picking and I'm grinning," sort of thing.

And here watchingating and learninating from your posts here, and very grateful. Ain't quite dead yet.

A kickback feature, very nice.
Loud enough to hear myself, very nice.
"Flat EQ" (whatever that is) to let the pedal do the tone sculpting or
Effects loop to do the same thing with the pedal.

Not completely sure why it's necessary for a stage monitor to carry my "tone" if the PA is carrying the load. But DI out from the amp

All kinds of fun here in the bass zone
