Then you owe it to your ears and musical senses to spend an afternoon Mr. Lightfoot and his music. Start with a printer; his Gord’s Gold double album. That’s what did it for me, though I’d already heard his radio hits.
To me, digging deeper then just the Edmund Fitzgerald will open you up to some incredible music, especially during the late fall and winter. Give it a try!

Thanks for the recommendations folks. I’ve never really been a big folk rock person. Though my first album was Jim Croce’s greatest hits. (Such a great musician) And it occurs to me lately that I definitely approach the bass as a folk musician might. I’ll give Gordon a listen.
I haven't been a big folk rock person for playing as have always preferred soul/R&B, but listening to it opens up such an opportunity. Think of what Dylan wrote and others made famous. Dylan's 30th Anniversary Concert opened my eyes and ears. And now, my combos bring it all to life.

That’s my fave musical style, Westy. Some might say it’s less interesting because there may be less complexity, but the bass (especially without drums) hold the whole thing up! It fills in below what all those acoustic guitars, mandolins, banjos, and whatever else they throw at us can’t do as well. I love it!
It’s also what’s guided my gear purchases over the years too. I’ve found that my violin bass running through a nice Fender or Ampeg setup yields the best results when playing acoustic folk music.
I think I’ve finally found a consistent sound I like performing to an audience or to a recording device. And that’s why I experiment with different brands and models as I do. It helps me better clarify what I’m hearing in my head.
So five what we attached here a listen. If ya liked Jim Croce, you’ll certainly find something with this music too.
Hello Combo Club Users. I also do a bit pf guitar playing. I wonder if any of you use a Vox AC30 as a bass amp and how you got on with it (this one is mine). I think that Bill Wyman used one. I love the AC30 as a guitar amp but have never used one for bass.
I'm pretty much all in to the combo from Pat Quilter. I had the head before i knew the BassDock cabs were on the market.
I lived for awhile in Orillia Ontario where Lightfoot was from. Glenn Gould also had a home close to Orillia.

Right you are, my west coast compadre of the low end. Your Fender Studio 40 ticks off all the right boxes to solid tone, recording ability, and tons of versatility. Not to mention, it’s a one-handed grab when traveling. Dylan would’ve dug that back in the sixties!
Beautiful piece of British history ya got there, RB55! I’ve never played through one of the 30s, but at reasonable levels I don’t see why it couldn’t work in maybe a recording session. Give it a try!
Hey Doc! I was watching something on Joni Mitchell Last week and they showed her singing a new song of hers at GL’s kitchen table and sitting next to her was David Crosby or maybe Dylan, I think. His kitchen looked pretty plain, but this was like ‘70 or ‘71. Very cool.
Doc, I gave an ailment that I need your consultation on. Believe it or not, I’ve gotten the green light from #2 ( #1 in my book) to purchase a Hofner 500/1 Artist Bass next June for my retirement gift. I’ms scareds to death! It’s too much for me and I seriously think I’d be happier with the Ignition Pro. Am I right or an idiot? (No one else can answer that!)
You’ve got a 500/1, right? Do you use it all the time or like pull it out at Christmas and Easter? The Rogue would still be my day-to-day, but part of me is saying, “Hell ya!”
