I ordered mine in mid-late February of 2018. The instrument was completed on 20 June (according to the adoption papers) and delivered about a couple weeks after. Crafted in India, setup in England, and shipped.

The delivery times listed at the Chowny website are pre-covid, and pre-Brexit. AFIK, Anderton's is the sole retail outlet for new instruments. Ping Steven Chown over at the Chowny thread, or send a Private Message to Chowny, for the most current delivery estimates.

On a short practice break with my CHB-1. I find it fairly effortless to play, respective of the wide body. That's with a couple years on board, plus professional instruction on how to hold the bass comfortably. It's really no different than AnyBass ™ — the "trick" is in the right forearm.

I remember the bass' completion date because up until then I owned only the Stingray. It was always "my bass" or "my Ray." Then the Chowny became "my new bass", and the Ray became "my old bass". After a bit the new bass wasn't so new any more. How to call the sapphire burst? The paperwork! Solstice eve in 2018 was 20 June.

Now I have My Ray, and Solstice Eve. I've not yet divulged the name of the Acinonyx ....

Oh. Chowny has moved their manufacturing operation to the UK. Closed the operation in India pending completion of existing orders. Expect a15-20% price increase also. But yous' guys probably already knew this.

The combination of Brexit + covid is what's up. Not easy times for Chowny. Looking forward to a happy resolution with many more Chowny basses in the wild.

Isolation Pads vs. HPF's...these two options are similar in price and some say HPF's make amps and speakers more efficient. In addition, an HPF is considerably smaller.

I would love to hear comments from those who have tried both. I do know that an HPF and, possibly an amp stand would be my choice. The amp stand not for isolation but to raise combos and cabs for stage use.

I say, “Use ‘em if ya got ‘em!” I particularly like the Gramma iso pad, especially for a larger combo that won’t fit a stand well. The HPF, on the other hand, works great with any setup.

If I’m definitely using a stand, then the HPF is a must since I won’t use the pad. Again, use your ears to determine what sounds best for that gig or rehearsal.

Probably due to the flurry of activity this past weekend. The certainly added some pages with interesting banter.

M, I’m counting on ya, besides keeping your laundromat cleaner, is to make sure the CC thread doesn’t go to P. 5 for the next nine months.

I ask this because I’m heading to school tomorrow and they’re not letting me out until the end of May in 2022. I’ll be on at night and weekends, plus breaks!

I enjoyed my summer break so much and big part of that enjoyment was hanging out with all you folks. We added a decent number of combo owners, got into some in-depth discussions on basses and amps, and laughed a ton at all the quips, puns, and winks that were shared right here at the CC. I hope TB’s many other clubs have half as much fun as we do!

Keep the fires burning and I’ll make sure to pop in when I can. Best wishes to all my fellow educators out there who have a big job to do this year. Stay healthy, both physically as well as mentally.

To everyone else, keep rockin’ your bass and keep the club alive!
