The Combo Club

A little 'note' re the video: the THUNDERBIRD was "ailing"(needed repair)at the time this was shot, so I was playing my, now long gone, Epi EB-3L through the mighty Kasino-on the Kasino's last gig('cos it's a PITA to move-and it won't fit in my new gigmobile).

And thus the reason why it is the Cc’s National Anthem. ‘Nuff said.

The SBMM short scale is a very good value. Although many people on the forum have complained about problems with the tuners. Perhaps shipping problems? I have no complaints. It works very well for me.

I’m a sucker for anything short scale, WBB. Especially if I can actually play it! I begged to Fender for a year or so to put out a lefty short scale Mustang to no avail. I realize there’s not enough of Polish Thunder and me to warrant the cost of retooling, so when I see a bass I can play music with, I get excited! :hyper:

Iss very proud off me beink to announce Combo Club Wiki page update of rank promotink to Lt. RodRy. Iss right there with other named officers just a leetle bit above Most Venerable Garage Door section off da Wiki.

Wass wery goodt intelligence data ... uh, ... information brought back from your mission, uh, trip, Lieutenant. Seems all wass correspondink and confirmink previous datum descriptions on file for items at de target, uh, destination.

Now, all must stand at attention with hand over heart as iss played most solemn Combo Club National Anthem!

Now where the heck did I put my decider ring? Hmm, maybe somewhere in the closet. (Opens door) Ahhh!

I seem to remember you mentioning this once before (probably the last time I looked into this bass) and saying you didn’t care for it. I see nothing has changed!

Yeah, once you get to used to a certain body style, like the Hofner, everything else seems strange. I’m continuing my journey to Germany, spring 2022.

The Hofner feels comfortable and looks good I think. Since this pic I put the pick guard back on. I prefer the look with it on, and since it is a vintage instrument the pearloid is very nice.

That’s a beaut, Doc. I’m gonna keep the guard off so I can enjoy all that wood, but to each his/her own. Loving those teacups after years of these dopey black Twirlies. I love the look too, but also that of the Club bass which I should remind myself is also deep in the hunt!

A lot of folks like the pick guard off. There are videos on YouTube on how to remove them.

Enjoy your hunt!

Zzounds has lost this old fart as a customer, albeit only occasionally when I want something right away (always been 2days). Yep, get by Sunday if you order w/I the next 12 hours. Go to check and now says Wednesday. So, I have a Return.

I much prefer Sweetwater any hoots. Now on a more positive note, my wife really likes that Clowny SWB Pro too! She said something about Christmas...... Hmmmm. I still haven't got my birthday present. So, maybes do both at the same time considering the extended delivery time to get a Chowny. Let me go check. BRB.

12-14 weeks. Yikes. None on Reverb (seems folks keep them). Off to ponder what will I do. Maybe drive over to GC....Short trip..

GP: You looked and Sounded great!!!!!

The delivery times listed at the Chowny website are pre-covid, and pre-Brexit. AFIK, Anderton's is the sole retail outlet for new instruments. Ping Steven Chown over at the Chowny thread for the most current delivery estimates.

So you are mad because they aren't going to rush ship something you do not intend on keeping anyway?

You do whatever suits ya, but if the Chowny basses are anything as good as what I've seen here on these pages, plus he is a member of the group , those 12-14 weeks will be nothing and you'll still have it by Christmas. To get something that's crafted while you wait is totally cool in my book (like a Hofner 500/1). What would GC have that could compete with that? I'd say at least think about it before making any final decisions.

I was keeping it if I really liked it. Watched I don't know how many utube video demos checking out tones.
And they have always delivered on time, not a rush shipment at all (don't know where you got that idea). I was all set to play it today and get it set-up tomorrow. Am I disappointed, yes. So in my opinion; They stood me up! And yes, I'm very fickle when it comes to spending my limited resources. Shoot, I was happy with the Mikro except it was detective (neck pickup inoperative). So I started looking again. And here we are.

I certainly will. Love that SWB Pro. I had no idea the wife would approve so quickly. Changed everything. Smiles!!!!!!
Just a lot of smackaroos for us. However, it would probably be my last bass purchase.

Thanks. I still sound similar but that was ~2015. My clothes seem to have shrunk since then;).
