The Combo Club

Watching "the scene" tighten up here on the Isle of Everywhere as fewer and fewer musicians care to gig right now. Plenty of (unpaid) work in front of my Webcam....

And, Contessa, aren’t you glad you have all that webcam work to do while you’re sitting in timeout waiting for the world to resume back to normal, minus climate change? I consider myself lucky to finding a fun extension to my bass passion with recording.

GP, at nine o’clock tonight, your time, I’ll give ya a hearty round of applause and yell it, “Mustang Sally!” M sorry to hear about the cancellation but you are in a major hotspot and until those numbers go down I can’t imagine any live play happening. Hope it changes soon!

As for A’tons, couldn’t agree more. Super skilled bass players with a envious history, but it’s so hard to wrap me ears around all that noodling to hear the notes I’d play! Our style of laying down the groove isn’t flashy enough for the YouTubers, I guess.

SR, am I a GOF yet? I’m staring to feel it. :D
I agree with both of you guys on the videos. Someone aught to do these demos with just a nice easy type drum track.

Good Saturday morning and welcome to your weekend! Do your best to try a little playing in over the next couple of days. Me? I’m a working on “Kalamazoo” by the Show Ponies and “Seagull” by Bad Company. That one has no bass and I thought about adding some bass synth. Haven’t tried it before and thought it might be fun. What y’all up to for music?

Here’s an Anderton’s bass video highlighting my latest love, the RB-112 and it’s biggest brother, the RB-210. It’s the first time to actually hear the big one and I thought it sounded terrific. Thoughts anyone?

Enjoy your next 48 hours! :hyper:

Planning a drive for my first visit to Sweetwater Music. I'm using the need for a gig bag for my short scale StingRay as my excuse. Going to check out Elf combo amps, Mini-P, and Schecter 8 string basses if they let me.

I've not been playing in weeks, so I'm very rusty, but I'll at least play something!
:D

Good call, Slap. Even if it was between all the wanking, like a couple of minutes of walking bass behind a jazz drum track.

What’s happened is what used to be actual bass playing with a little slap in between has now reversed itself. No wonder broken thumb cases have increased in the ERs over the years...

RR, I’ll promote you to Lieutenant of the cables and cords stockpile if you deliver us your best summation of the trip! I’ve jever been there and would love to know what goes on, how your treated, and if they’ll let you play until risk of driving other customers away (that’s what always happens to me). Thank you in advance!

I saw this on utube a while back. These guys are a Hoot! I want a Warwick mid scale and the red Ampeg stack.

Definitely like the red Tolex on that baby-SVT, but owned the black version a few years ago and frankly was underwhelmed. It's all mids, which isn't the worst thing in the world, but I had to constantly push the bass, especially at lower levels, to get any fullness out of it. For a studio rig, it was nice and I'd probably appreciate it more now than I did then, but for playing out even at a smaller venue, I'd rather have the Rocket Bass giving me better lows and less setup time. Now if someone was gonna gift me with the red one...:)
