For as much as I love the Ampeg brand and what I call their classic (i.e. B-15) tone, I'm just barely now warming up to the SVT tone. I'm just not a clanky type of guy and when I hear that I question why. In fact, Ampeg has a super deal on their brand new SVT plugins suite (three SVT amps, eight cabinets, five pedals) that normally sells for two bills, but if you take a survey they'll sell it to ya for half that. I'm tempted to, but I'd still rather have Soul Reflection's B-15 plugin that he's probably not using for scientific purposes, of course. Hmm, if there was only a way...:rolleyes:

Calling GP! Gp, the guy from Hurricane Central. Come in, GP.

I have a video of a Jack Cassady bass that absolutely smokes! The guy is speaking German to me, but he's showing a Mesa preamp and it's all fun, but when he begins playing at the 6:00 min mark, things get really interesting. Take a listen, and if anyone else is interested feel free to jump in.

GP likes to tease me with this bass and the fact that it comes in a lefty flavor which makes it that much more enticing. Thoughts anyone?

All is not lost FL, keep watching their daily emails and they will eventually offer it again at a deep discount. It may not be scientific use, but it serves as a benchmark to see how close the SCR-DI and Rumble Studio come to replicating the sound that GP does not favor, he said running for cover...:)!

I played through a borrowed SVT/8x10 one night in the early 70's. Very loud and produced Gale Force winds. My pants legs we're literally swaying from the breeze blowing by. But the tone was not nearly as sweet as the V4B. Both tube so I don't know why. The V4B just had extreme clarity and less boom. But it was fun popping both of my ear drums and being louder than the entire band combined. They were buzzed so I guess they didn't notice.

I owned a mid-70s Blue Line SVT/810. The bestest thing about it was it went up on the ~4' high stage, stayed there for 50 weeks, came down/home for a 2 week vacation, and back up for another 50 weeks. Then came down/home and got sold. I could never get the sound from it that I wanted. I have since learned that they need to be 'cranked' to get the best outta them. It was never pushed where we were playing. The V4B @ 100W is prolly in its sweet zone at lower volumes.
Still don't want another one.

ADDENDUM: Later on I had one of these(BA112v1)50W, 1x12". Didn't like it either.

OMG, I loved that combo! In fact, it was the first one I listened to as a up-an-coming bass player. West Music in Davenport circa 2013-14 maybe. That was the day I knew I lived the Ampeg vibe.

As for your link request...

I was ready to hit paste and the phone rang. One thing led to another and I clicked off thinking I was done. I’ll find it and post later. It’s for a Mesa preamp pedal that was being posted in thr effects forum.

I had a 12 too in the mid 90's for home p!aging. Was certainly good for that.

Can I withdraw my post so it doesn't end up costing me money? I mean, it's dropped so much in 24 minutes, I don't now if I can afford to lose in another hour or two...

Yeah! What he said. Achtung, Snell. The Panzer V model. I'd prefer a BMW thank you very much.

Now, the gain helped bring out some tone on the single humbucker. Otherwise, I got nothing from it.

Don’t know enough about the bass to be sure, but my past history with Epi guitars taught me that you gotta give ‘em a push before they sound sweet. Could be the same here with this one too. I dunno, I liked it though I would’ve liked something different to listen to.
