Actually, it's a joke because I never get to play in a store, for I'm a lefty and there's rarely if ever, a time a left-handed bass is available. But if I did it'd probably be Stairway to Heaven...
Definitely like the red Tolex on that baby-SVT, but owned the black version a few years ago and frankly was underwhelmed. It's all mids, which isn't the worst thing in the world, but I had to constantly push the bass, especially at lower levels, to get any fullness out of it. For a studio rig, it was nice and I'd probably appreciate it more now than I did then, but for playing out even at a smaller venue, I'd rather have the Rocket Bass giving me better lows and less setup time. Now if someone was gonna gift me with the red one...
Oh, I just thought it was cute. And I'm not a mids kinda guy. I'm more of a Scooper. Bass at 3, treble at 2 and mids at 10-11. Boom trang trang.

If you end up wanting to try a pretty simple DIY active solution the classic Music Man 3 band preamp design features a second order HPF.
I'm just finishing up a pedal oriented open source design in the ubiquitous variable 2nd order + fixed 2nd order format, but it will likely require at least rudimentary SMD hand soldering skills.
iagtrplyr you are a genius! All I have to do is sell that concept to my wife when she gets home from work. What I can do is move a couple of boxes and be really excited over the amount of work I got accomplished. I can say it's a new work strategy taking the amount of work to and break it down into units. Then inserting the ground breaking time zone coefficient I was able to get this massive of amount of work done. What do you think?Hmm...work vs. play? I guess for me it'd depend on your time zone. You, my friend, are a dyed-in-the-wool Fender guy if I ever heard of one. You'd play through the micro-SVT for about five minutes and then say, "What else ya got?" I'm an Ampeg guy myself, but I even like the Fender scooped tone better than that particular amp's output unless there are pedals and generous EQing going on.

It all makes sense though. And it's a win-win too. She gets a little work outta ya and you have all the time you need to play music. Psst...it's been working for me for quite a while now.
I've had some Ampegs. Good Stuff. My favourite all time was the V4B, 100w all tube, through 2 4x10 cabs. So clear. Made my EB0 sound like a RIC. Did not care for the SVT Pro 3.

Did not know this about the classic MM preamp! So ... what have I done here?
The original epoxy preamp of My Ray gave up the ghost after 42 years. A bass that has no output is not so useful to me. [Arlo] And with tears in our eyes [/Arlo] took it to the luthier to be put back in order. Luthier rings two weeks ago to say I made it to the front of the EBMM queue after five months. Abort, retry, call a cab? Yes, I said, yes, replace the preamp
And in the time since, learn Mojotone makes a replacement with the original 4250 chip, and even the reverse audio 1M pot. Ah but too late, the EBMM replacement is on its way. Allegedly. Is it the same? Will life ever be good again? Do I replace the new EBMM preamp with a Mojotone? Does it matter? What is this thing called, love? Punctuation is important!

I got turned on to it because it's a "use a pick" song, not my usual style/genre, but I love the groove & constant movement.
And it's got a nice low-end through my Max 250

If it has a 1 Meg reverse taper pot it's a two bander, not the aforementioned three band one.
In which case it makes a metric shipload of low end, a horse of a very different stripe. I'd just enjoy it for what it is, AFAIK the Mojotone version has no compelling advantages.

I almost got a Max 250 for home use. I like the built in options it has like sub. Just to heavy for me these days. Would love to hear it.
Im learning side 2 of Abbey Road. Got a few on side 1 already. But side two. That’s some work for me. I have a few down already. I learned “Mean Mr. Mustard” yesterday. THAT is a fun tune to play! If you have never done it go for it. The good thing about a lot of Beatles tunes is only 2-3 minutes long. Mean Mr Mustard just over 1 minute of fun on the bass!
I find it hilarious when people say McCartney wasn’t a great bassist. If you play bass and are one half of the top songwriting duos ever you automatically qualify. And he was good. Just a great musician all around.
I got it because it's a weight I can manage (44lbs). At least, when I move it from one side of the living room to another....
I'm working on getting some decent home recording stuffs, so I can put up decent sound clips - just have to work more on my playing, 'cause I'm not sure that's decent sounding
