Off to slumberland, and no, I'm not looking for a couch! It's officially Friday and that means fun, frolic, and Fender over on the Rumbler Club's thread. At least, it used to. I'll have to check it out later today. Everyone stay safe, and M, I'm glad you're back with the living and recovering. We'd be lost with ya!

Talk to you this weekend sometime in between getting ready for conferences next week and the grandson's flag football game on Sunday.

Uncertain if it's possible to have three more vastly different basses. Yeah, probably is.

So yes, recovering enough from The Thing That's Going Around to install new GHS Brite Flats on the 'Ray. That makes it as close to factory spec as its been since it came off the showroom floor 42.5 years ago. The frets are dressed. The mojo crud is gone for new mojo with new EBMM bridge saddle assemblies, new mutes, and a new preamp.

.... I could have kept this vintage bass vintage vintage. A dead preamp makes it pretty difficult to hear.

Plugged right into my PJB combo and it sounds glorious :cool:

Very cool looking pick guard on the Ray and strap! Love the Gretsch! One of these days I’m gonna get one. That’s a Gretsch right? Love the way that neck is aging on the Ray. I am ashamed that I cannot identify that bass on the right. Gorgeous finish though.

Bass on the left is a 2018 Chowny CHB-1, and the bass on the right is a 2020 Nordstrand Acinonyx.

Both are 780mm scale (30.7 inch scale) and I'm definitely unused to the Ray's scale.

There is no way I could have know what I bought when I bought that Ray. I kind-of-sort-of knew I found something special. Did not know it was destined to be a classic.

I asked the FL in a PM, what he thought of this but, I thought I would throw it out to all of you CC members...

"So, the nurse that led me into the CT Scan Room was wearing a black hoodie with a scull painted on the back".

Should I be concerned? I asked her and she said others have asked the same question…what to you think?

Lol yes! I had a chest X-ray yesterday. And while waiting ironically in the waiting room a couple of the staff started singing, and I mean loudly, Twisted Sisters “we’re not gonna take it”. I have to admit I was a little nervous when they took me back!

Hey aside from food and medical issues. I am working from home. Of course the fender R500 and Mustang at my side. I pick it up every spare moment. Love working from home. Anyway. I also like playing early with my 1st cup of coffee. My hands are fresh. My mind is fresh. Anyway. I turn on the Rumble at 8:30 or so. I get busy working. I forget it’s on. About 11:30 I get caught up and pick up the bass. Amps been on for a few hours now. There’s times it’s on 5-6 hours. It doesn’t heat up at all. What do you folks do? Leave it on? Turn it off? At gigs is the amp on or off between sets? What’s your thoughts? Good being on so long? No worries? I’m gonna post this in the Rumble club too.

I would only worry if there was a “Chances of Living” prediction board above the nurse’s desk!

Sounds like a nice setup, Michael. I was doing that same thing a year and a half ago, but it was far from relaxing. We’ve come a long ways, but I taught my last kid at home today (hopefully for a long time now that they’ll all be back on Monday) and I’m happy about it.

I do remember sneaking a little playing in if we were between things. It was like playing hooky!
