C7, nice to see ya, it has been a while. I don’t know about ultimate practice amp, but pound-for-pound its a tough competitor. Don’t expect a baked in, scooped tone, but do expect clean as a whistle tone that lets you hear your bass, excellent construction (this sucker will last forever), and more volume than you expect a pair of four-inch drivers should give ya! It all depends on what you’re looking for.
Maybe Miles, but are you observing everyone doing that in this business? I myself am not seeing the price jumps as with the Rumble series in the competition, but maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places.
Soul Reflection’s point, I believe, is that it’s bad business ethics to increase prices because you’re worried about the future. How about gold prices and look to sell in quantity?
As I mentioned to someone, after owning a Rumble 100 for as long as I did, there’s no way I’m paying another fifty bucks for the exact same amp. So what’s the defense now, we’ll sell to the naive because they’re ignorant to what they could’ve bought it for a few months ago?
Finally, I’m not just pooping on Fender. I say anyone who follows this business model, especially if they’re as large as the Mothership, should be ashamed of themselves.
Sell us a Rumble IV, add a doo-dad or two and then up the price. That’s what Ampeg did and I assume they’re selling Rocket Basses because they’re pretty popular around here right now!
I promised my doctor I would remain calm, so forgive me. My favorite Classic Vibe 50s Tele is now around $450 and recent owner comments are that it’s much sloppier built than not that long ago. The one I owned 5-6 years ago played right out of the box and cost somewhere in the low threes, if I remember.
And I can’t smell or taste my food right now, so there’s my GOF statement of the day. Good night!

Love the group! Started with an Acoustic 136 combo in early 80s, moved on to bigger stuff, including my 72 SVT and fridge. Age and laziness has brought me back again to combos. Go figure.

New Double Fours no longer hold battery power capability, if that's important. Close to the Double Four but not the Double four is the Bass Cub Pro with modestly greater power. The difference is the Bass Cub Pro will drive a PJB C2 cab for a giggable solution.
Off on vaca in the Copper Canyon in Chihuahua State. 4 times bigger than the Grand Canyon. No COMBO with me, just wanted to contribute to the number of posts....

Anyone who visits here regularly is exempt from my harsh comment, but the newcomer to the hobby is who I'm thinking about here. That's why so many seasoned players recommend buying a good quality used amp or bass that evades the initial sticker price and gets it closer to what the market says it is worth. Now before you ask me if I always follow my own advice, nope, I haven't. Admittedly though, I've spent more pesos than I needed to in the past years and I go to Confessional weekly to make amends for it.
All's fair in love and retail business, I agree, and the buyer is on their own to beware, but as aficionados of said combo bass amps, I think we owe to those who stop by to see what's up when to call foul. That's all I was doing and I apologize if you took it personally.
M, weren't you and I talking about those combos a while back? I wanna say the vibe on the Session is it's not very loud if you're jamming with others, but for you, in the den, it's more than enough. I think we also heard that the Micro 7 was actually better sounding, though limited to solo practice because of its size. Check 'em out, C7, and give us an updated review. Thanks!
