the conklin GT-7 thread!!!

are those metal or plastic?

Plastic, with metal cores to do the work.

Prog, no, nothing special about 'em -- all I changed out was the wings themselves; the post, gears, and shaft are still the OEM. They're just *cool*. btw, how'dja get the pic to show in your post? I couldn't get it to work.

DEFELDUS, the one on the left actually looks better in the flash photo than it does in person -- the light really brought out the figure.

you guys inspired me :D

Perhaps drilling a new hole for a slap contuor switch (or other control) wouldn't be that big of a deal after doing it.

I don't have a GT-7 but went through similar mental anguish about how to incorporate the electronics that I wanted into my Hoyt/Warmoth J5. The bass came to me without electronics and I settled on EMG pups and pre. Along the way, I bought a BTS (with separate bass and treble controls) and a EXB bass expander (essentially an on-board contour control). The bass had four holes in it, I either needed to modify my BTS and make it a BTC (concentric bass/treble) or drill another hole. I got the parts from EMG but thought long and hard about it and finally decided that I'd like each control to be separate. Now that I drilled the hole, I'm glad that I did...every control is right where I'd want it to be and my big fat fingers won't have to grub around with little concentric knobs to make tonal changes.

Parts availability is a big issue too. Can one actually get a concentric pot, in the right resistance values, with a pull switch?

Actually you will. The OBP-3 comes with a slap-contour switch that you'll have to drill a small hole for. I guess there's a way to bypass it, though.

That's true, Mark. I forgot about the switch.

I believe if you check the wiring diagram on Aguilar's site, they show how to bypass it. I could be wrong though. It's been a little while since I've seen it.

I've got a question for GT7 owners. I'll been using "On Stage Stands Flip-It Guitar Stand" because I wasn't happy with the way the GT7 sat. I sure the On Stage is stable and secure, but the bass rest with most of the weight at one point...Link Removed

This seems like a solid spot but I have been wrong before. Anyone find a better way?
