the conklin GT-7 thread!!!

Heavens, no. Bartolini pickups are known for richness and complexity, and that comes thru on this bass too. Swamp ash body for sweetness and maple top for snap adds to the brew. No hollowness here!

The long and short is, you want a 7 on short green, Conklin is the whole game. Ain't nothing in the price range on the planet ('cept Wish and Galveston, and you don't wanna go there), and it's actually a really nicely made bass besides!

cods - I use a ProTec ProPak case which works very well with my GT7. Picture included. It's more or less the same cost as the Conklin case, but at least gives you another option. I think you would class it as a hardshell case, but it definitely gives more protection than a gigbag.

Mole_nc - XO-Bionic (Russ) is hoping to stock Groove Tools basses in the UK.

Hopefully, if all goes according to plan, in the next couple of months, I will be distributing the Groove Tools basses over here... :D I'm in the process of setting up the company, etc, at the moment, I've got Bill Conklin's blessing, and hope to start importing instruments in early February.

If anybody's got a used natural-finish one for sale, let me know. I was the high bidder on eBay on one with 30 seconds to go, and a sniper hit at literally one second to go and beat me by 10 bucks. I don't think I need the extras found on the BD model, and don't like the gold hardware anyways, so a regular GT7 should do me just fine.

i'm going to duplicate this over in Wanted...

well, I bid a good 50 bucks over the last guy so I assumed I was in the clear. I suspect sniping software, actually, for the other bid to have appeared literally on the last tick of the clock.

better luck next time, I suppose =0)

eyyyup. I learned about it in the incredibly competitive world of arcade and pinball collecting. Nice guys, but can be shrewd when it comes to a rare or collectible anything.

Apparently you just identify the auction, your desired margin of piss-the-other-guy-off, and just let it do its thing for you, don't know much more than that... crappy, eh?

wow guys, whats the deal with some GT's having a quilted top and some having a flamed top? pictures included:

Funny, isn't it? That's one of the little sacrifices you make as a mass-producer. I myself own one of each -- my fretless is flamed and my fretted is quilt. Neither is the nicest piece of wood I've ever seen, but both are nice. When ya gotta crank 150 basses off the line today, and 150 the next, and... well, you can't spend a ton of time looking for just the right piece -- ya gotta yank 'em out of the bin, slap 'em on, and move along.
