Cort's build quality and playability ought to be one of the best... since they are the contract manufacturer of most of current world's guitars and basses.
I used to own their Artisan A6 bass... the best playability bass out of factory that I've ever had.

Here is the issue. Seems the previous owner got into a gang fight with a guitarist or something and had suffered blunt force trauma. It does not affect the tone whatsoever. A gaping hole in the spalted .. you can see right through to the mahogany. I could go 2 routes to repair this 1) DIY by using something like plastic wood or something (cheap) or 2) Send it to a luthier (expensive). Any suggestions? I am still euphoric on the purchase and not really worried about this injury ....yet. I dont mind doing no 1 and taking my time doing it. Any advice and suggestions? thank you
what year was that Curbow 6 from? Looks like still in good condition. I had a 2001 Curbow 6.
Happy birthday to me! I just took home this '02 Artisan B4 Fretless. Sure has a nice feel to it. Unfortunately it needs a new pre-amp, so it's currently wired up passive. I'm debating between rolling my own or installing an OBP-3.
My latest instrument, bought last December and my first “non-Fender style bass. Cort AS B5+ and I love it. In fact I like it so much, I am off to buy a Cort A5 Custom SP on Saturday.
The plus series usually denotes upgraded harware over the regular model. My B5+ has Hipshot Ultralites, Bartolini MK1’s and MarkBass pre amp. Body is lightweight swampash. I have an A5 Custom SP also which is an upgraded A5+ with spalted maple and very high spec hardware. Very nice instrument but is for sale as I’m hooked on the narrow string spacing of the B5.
No hardware upgrade in the case of Artisan A5 Plus. It's just the new naming scheme for the latest/current regular build of Artisan A5 series (IIRC starting 2017 build). It has the same specs as A5 from few previous years of builds: same MK1 pups, same MK1 preamp, same Hipshot Ultralite tuners and same Hipshot Trans Tone bridge. The only differences are the back body color is made slightly darker and they switch bass and treble knobs position.
It's not the same case as previous A5 Custom SP, A5 Custom Z, A5 Custom 20th, or current A5 Ultra which gets hardware upgrades of special/exotic wood top, USA Bartolini MK5CBC pups, and might be more.
I don’t know how they do it but these Cort basses are awesome!! They don’t cost much. It’s almost criminal. Looked at a review of a GB74JJ AB. Wow!! Totally wanna have one!

My recently acquired Cort A5 Custom AS.. I can’t even begin to understand how they make these for the money. The quality of this bass is incredible.. everything about is just great.
