I can't seem to access the Cort website at the moment, so I can't tell you how it sounds relative to the sound clip...

My personal opinions on it:
With the EQ flat, and the 'slap' switch off (I think it could just be an active/passive switch but that's what the catalogue calls it :hmm: ) it has a very bright tone. The lows are very clean, and with the 'slap' on it gets a bit of a bass boost and just sounds generally fuller. The place I tested it used a 115 Combo, and you could use the switch to get a bit boomier. With my 410 I really need to just leave it on, although some EQ adjustment can probably fix that.

The Wah effect is quite subtle when I play normally, which is good. Finger style you can still play a normal backing bass line, and when you start slapping it starts, well, wah'ing. Nice, proper attack driven effect.

I really need to play it some more to write a proper review on the sound. The main reasons for buying it were playability (comfortable neck and action) and to get a different tone from my J/MM Ibanez. I'd still use the Ibby if I wanted to play something that needed lots of growl, but the FM2 fills a much larger space for what I'm trying to play now.

Just found a few pics in my camera that I didn't remember taking. Thought I'd share...(Cort GB-75 & Cort A5). :)

I'm a proud new member of Cort owners with this fantastic piece of wood. GB-94 with Seymour Duncan pus.
Cheers,
Peter

That is a great looking bass. I bet it sounds awesome as well. I was looking at that model before I bought my GB75, but they didn't (and still don't) have a 5-string in the GB94 model. Maybe they'll come out with a 5-string version down the road.

Anyway, Congrats! :bassist:

I got my cort today and I finally put it down 3 hours later its a hell of a bass for the money I would say its right up there with the lakland, mtd, spector overseas that I have played !

to bad they put these out of production:mad:

superflybass,
Where did you get your bass from? It looks pretty much like my bass' TWIN.....LOL

Aren't they GREAT basses though? I'm really diggin mine lately:bassist:

Thank You - and I also agree, Corts are definitely not overpriced. In fact, I feel amazed (and grateful) that there are basses of such high quality out there at these prices. Please post pics when your Artisan arrives!

I haven't seen anybody mention the Cort GB99. This is the only US-based site that seems to carry the bass, but I wouldn't be surprised if they sold out and haven't updated the site. It seems like the new "Masterpiece" series has replaced the GB99 V or B series because they're so similar, but the Masterpiece series is WAY more money.

Anyway, I've been holding out for this jazz bass for the looks alone. I want that Burled Maple top that looks like lava. Very unique. Anybody have any experience with it?

-Eric.
