I did in fact try it with flats, it's spent most of its life wearing a broken in set of Steve Harris Rotosounds, which I alternate with a super, super heavy set of rounds(to keep the tension the same). Tell ya what, if I finish work early enough tomorrow, I'll try to record it with both flats and rounds, but I'll warn you now, I'm not much of a player, so it'll be basic stuff, better to hear the basses tone anyway.:)

And that new white one...... incredible! Geez, I have one and it still want it! GAS! Thats suprisingly awesome.

Sorry dude, it'll be the weekend before I do some clips, twisted my wrist pretty bad at work today.:atoz:

GB99B - Looks and sounds absolutly lush, Needs a setup now though after 2 years of constant use.

Sounds best strung with either Elixir Light guages or DR Low-Riders.

My first (and only) bass is a Cort, bought it second hand for $200 (Australian) the only thing second had about it was the fingerprints though :)

not sure what model it is, says SP-PJ on the headstock.

i quite like it, though i haven't played much else for comparison :P

KK, Soundclips,

Basic 12 bar blues in G, covers all the strings, a few flubs, as I haven't played it in years.:atoz:
There's a buzz on the G string in the rounds clip, when played with a pick, action was set too low for pick playing really....

Artisan C4H - Rounds

Artisan C4H - Flats

Order is Neck - Both - Bridge, then the same with a pick.

Sorry its Mediafire, only way I could do 'em for now.

I can do something more agressive, if needed.

Cheers! :D

Glad I could help!

That was very helpful. Thanks!

Good to know the C4H can sound nice and warm with flats while still having quite a bit of modern edge and growl. That neck-only tone fits the bluesy bassline perfectly!

From what I read of the ceramic MM pickups I was under the impression it might only be good for growly, gritty, agressive grunge/metal tones, or super bright modern slap 'n pop. And I guess it can do that just fine, but much more. Particularly with flats.

I should stop reading Sundogue's stuff in that flatwound thread. I'm in full Flatland Boogie mode recently. :D

Now I'm off to practice a lot until I feel like I've earned a new bass, and to save some money for the C4H. And a new pair of D'Addario Chromes. :smug:

Great to hear man!

Its suprisingly versatile, you could walk off a metal headbanging stage, and straight onto a jazz quartets, without undoing your strap!:D

The only downside to slap on it, there isn't much room between the neck pickup and the neck to dig in.

Heh, after recording, I planned on putting the rounds back on, but I'm having too much fun in flatland!
