I have a 2006 Squire Bass but according to the S/N is actually made by Cort in Indonesia. Does that qualify?

...or do I head over tot eh Squire forum? ....or both? lol

'Tis yet another bastard child of the global capitalistic name-game. Another offspring of the marketing geeks on the 6th floor of any given corporation. Much like the Chevy LUV that was manufactured by Isuzu back in the 1970s when the phrase "Made in Japan" was considered to mean "low quality". Today, more enlightened folks know that it doesn't matter "where" things are made, the actual design standards are much more important. Your bass, like the Chevy LUV, is yet another product made by eastern manufacturers that American companies just cannot build themselves as well at the same price point (after all, we have our lifestyles and our social pride to protect!).

In the end, it is what it is. It's a Cort with someone else's sticker on it.

I think a lot of (ahem) "loyalists" would be shocked beyond shocked if they were to discover where their prized "Made in Where-ever" bass was actually manufactured. I've read more than once that Cort is the single largest manufacturer of electric stringed instruments on Planet Earth. That said, I would not be surprised to learn that many .. MANY ... brand-name basses are made in one of Cort's facilities located somewhere in the *"Evil East".

I think a new forum needs to be created -- call it "Stepchild Basses".

*Evil East. I'm mocking the politically venomous flag wavers that feel that things made in certain regions of human civilization aren't as good as things made in other portions of human occupation. I claim to be a Citizen of Earth, so please don't misunderstand my mockery. Nationalism is the second most effective firestarter in nearly every war ever fought, right after religious participation.

its the same as whats used in the B5 model, just a different color..

anyway, what gauge of B string do you guys use?
i think mine is too muddy and has a lot of buzz (i really want a low action) :eyebrow:

Im still using the stock strings (130 on low B). I adjusted the double truss rod and string height last week and intonation yesterday.
Neck was adjusted to minimal relief, string height to 2mm and pick up height to 3mm (with string pressed on the 24th fret).

... Thanks for your thoughts, man... Now how to I get a club membership number? lol
You are quite welcome.

But why do you feel you need to belong to a club? Mere posession of the bass is validation enough. Be proud of the ownership of the actual bass, rather than membership of a club.

If your signature says "Cort Owners Club Member 10 bazillion" it conjurs up a "and? so what? just another person that has a Cort - just another ~club member~" response.

On the other hand, putting in your sig "Cort Squier Precision" .. that should rattle the purists up! It's far more unique. How many folks actually know (or are willing to accept) that Cort makes Squier Precision bass guitars?

I mean, you do whatever you think is best, but it's just a thought.

Just out of curiosity and for educational purposes, how did you determined you Indonesian Squier was made in a Cort factory, what's the magic code key? :help:

The serial number starts with "IC 06..." According to some info I found on line (my only clue), the "IC" is a the Squire designation for a Bass manufactured by Cort, in Indonesia. The "06" designate 2006.

I have nothing else to go by.

I know what you mean.. The reality is, I'm not a "joiner" at all. lol I didn't list my basses in my signature on purpose, too. They are listed in my profile, though.

I really bought it as a beater, to use for practice and for venues that are a little more, umm.... robust in their audience participation, than others.

That said, I was thinking of joining the Squire, Cort, Gibson, Rickenbacker, Hofner, Epiphone, Carvin club. You post made me realize that I already did!

Thanks for the insight. This might help explain the exceptional quality of my '06 Squier VM Fretless Jazz. Its serial number has the same starting sequence. Guess this means I own one more Cort than I though. :bassist:

That is interesting.

What about the Squier Deluxe Jazz Bass V Active (black)? Do we think that is put together by Cort? It has an ebonol fingerboard and active EQ circuits and even a slap switch. Those are features not uncommon to Cort basses....

If that's the case, then I just picked up my second "Cort" yesterday ...

I just finally paid off the lay-away on this 2012 Squier Vintage Modified Jazz in natural finish. I certainly am becoming increasingly pleased with it, although I've had it less than 24 hours up to now.

Hello cort players,

I'm interessted by the new cort crubow 51 (wood body) or maybe the ancien model in 5 strings ( luthite body).
