This is one of THE single most beautiful Corts I've ever seen. I'm pretty much a total snob about my own Y2K A4 (one of the original A4s with the old "Fortress" bridge and no funky little "active passive EQ" toggle). But THIS one ... Holy Radioactive Coyotes, Batman! What a looker!

Lovin' the Music Man pickup.
Lovin' the "J" neck pickup.
Lovin' all to hell the white finish.
Diggin' on the "Hipshot" lookin' bridge.
Diggin' on the pearl block inlays and the white binding on the neck.

Friggin' diggin' it!

Get's First Place Trophy fo the "Wish It Was Mine" contest!

Shweet.

I'll be joining the club, just got a Cort Action V-A. somewhere online I read that the factory setup was pretty lame, but the action is good, there's no buzz or fretting, there's only a small noise in the bridge when playing the 1st string.

Greetings Earthlings!(A little Manring-ism there)I am a two time Cort Curbow owner.Just yesterday I traded my Schecter Stiletto Extreme 5 in for a Burlwood finish Curbow 5 I saw online at the nearby Music Go Round. An even trade for a cool $99.00!Why $99.00 you say?Well the Curbow has some issues that I wasn't ignorant of,but I had to have a burlwood finish Curbow.First, the truss rod is broken. How badly,I don't know as of yet.But I intend to either find a replacement neck or have the rod replaced. On the positive side, the neck is not bowed, but perfectly straight. Also it has MightyMite pickups! Not Bartolini! So in the mean time that can wait.It is playable.Second, the bass pot is very scratchy when turned. That seems that can be solved with a little electrical contact cleaner. If not,I will seek to replace it.

Wanted to dabble in fretless and got a Curbow 4FL on eBay for $300. Put on some Rotosound nylon wounds, and it sounds great.:bassist:

I had to waddle all the way back to page 28 to find this thing! I love the absolute black/white/greys contrast this picture presents. It's nearly like "art deco" photography.

On another note, with this post we are 27 posts and/or 1 page away from the magic "1000 post/50 page" mark, which means we'll be granted a "The Cort Club 2" thread soon! Due to some sort of limit within the software here at the Talk Bass forum threads can only go to either 1000 posts or 50 pages max length. When that happens the thread is locked and a new "part 2" (or 3 or 4 and so on) thread is started by one of the mods.

Cool milestone for us Cort players. :)

OK.An update on my Burl wood finish Curbow 5.This is an old Curbow made in June 2000 and despite it being 12 years old,it is in excellent shape. It has a Mighty Mite pickup which gives it a bright, meaty growl.Which I will keep despite the popular preference of the MK-1 Bart which to me sounds "clackey"And the electronics still work while the slap switch is on!Wonders! The scratchy bass pot will have to be replaced as the contact cleaner did not remedy the noise. One oddity though. On the headstock there is a letter "C" printed in front of the D string winding post.It is the same style lettering as the Curbow signature.Does anyone have any idea about this?I don't see it on any other headstock photos.I would like to post pictures, but I have no camera to do so.On a different note:Who has the oldest Curbow?#1?

Guys, I'm heavily considering a bg 94...never thought I'd say Cort but this looks too Good to pass up. I'm confident in the build quality, but was wondering about the necks...how do they feel? Best comparison? More jazz like?
I can only speak for my A4, but I like it a good deal more than my J. It's just slightly slimmer than the J neck, the overall width seems the same. The glossy finish has it's plusses and minuses. In general it feels slightly smaller, just a tiny bit less of a handful than the J feels.

Again my old Cort A4 is all I have to offer in comparison to my J.

Is the j sound of the front pickup "jazz" like? That is how to say does it sound like a good jazz with the front pick up soloed?

Mmmm .. more like a P with my bass. Really fat and with a great voice. The neck picku sounds excellent, a great "rock bass" sound with plenty of definition. It has Bartolini M4 licensed pickups and the same type of active preamp. The EQ controls are VERY effective. I don't know if the bass you're looking at has the same pickups and active preamp that mine has though. The A4 uses passive single coil pickups and an active preamp (9v).
