Got this cort bass a few weeks ago for pretty cheap. Can anyone help ID this thing? I haven't had any luck :help:

I wanted to bump this post from a while back. The very first bass that I ever bought was the same model as this one and I too was wondering what model of Cort this is and approximately what year they were made? Mine was blue with silver racing stripes though.

Here is an image of the bass.

Here is a picture of another Cort just like it.

I've owned my A4 since 2000 and not had to adjust the truss system yet, but it appears it's time for a bit of a tweak. How is the Cort Artisan adjusted? ... How do I go about it with a Cort Artisan?

-on the head stock...remove the 3 small screws on the truss rod cover(black plastic with A4 on it).
-If its concave... do a quarter turn clockwise (going to your E string) ... if its convex... do a quarter turn counter clockwise (going to your G string)
-then tune your bass and let it sit for a night.
-repeat quarter turn adjustment again if needed

Should I get an Action V-A or an Ibanez GSR 205? I don't doubt Cort quality since I own an electric guitar (X-11 with EMG HZ), but I'm a bit worried on the pick ups not being very good. Ibanez is a bit more expensive, so it should be better, but Ibanez is an "overpriced" brand. Or perhaps a Yamaha RBX 170.

Edit: A guy is selling a GB35A for the same price as a new Action V-A, is it a better deal?

I don't know about the "Action V-A" but most Corts I've seen, including my own A4, are equipped with very good pickups .. usually some sort of licensed Barts. If I remember correctly, Ibanez basses are also equipped with licensed Barts.

Please know that there is likely chance that I am wrong about the specific models you're speaking of. I'm not the most up to date person.

These 2 almost reminds me of my earlier Westone Thunder 1A.

I do not think the pups on my Cort PJ are brats, it is a very cheap entry level bass. But damn the pups are HOT, kind of OK if one like clean tone or lots of OD, but it is much easier to get the perfect crunch on "lower" gain pups such that are on Ric and the Geddy as the preamp can do it's job.

What the heck are you babbling about here? I'm not following how this has ANYTHING to do with Cort basses? Did I miss the memo or something?

Looks like original from older A series. It pretty much copies Hipshot A design.

Nope, that's not the older bridge .. THIS is the "old" bridge, it's called The Fortress Bridge. It was made by Cort (or ~for~ Cort) .. if you look at the tailpiece carefully you can see the Cort logo (the "C") right in the middle of the tailpiece. It sounds incredible, has ridiculous amounts of sustain, is made of solid brass, and is a major pain in the a$$ to setup. This is my Y2K Cort A4 Artisan. It has years of gigs and hundreds of recordings on it. This was back when they made the wings from solid maple instead of using laminations. This bass weighs in at THIRTEEN POUNDS without the strap on a US Postal Scale.

(above) that's not a scratch, it's a reflection from something. The pics were taken outside, something reflected off of it's glossy surface.
