The Cracker barrel restaurant chain

IMO, CB is just another cookie cutter standard american restaurant that serves crappy american food. What makes it so special to you guys?
I've been there once in Florida. I forgot what I odered, but I liked it. I think it came with mashed potatoes.
My favorite American restaurant chain is The Cheesecake Factory, then coming in 2nd is The Olive Garden.

Cracker Barrel is freaking gross. 
Even in Madison I can get better "southern" food at multiple joints, better breakfast at just about every local diner and dairy bar, and better "American" food on every block downtown.

CB isn't bad, as-far-as chain restaurants go. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I like the place. When compared to local diners, southern joints, etc., it doesn't hold its own. Apples to oranges, Vermont Cheddar to Wisconsin Cheddar, as they say.

True, but that's not why they are successful. Consistent food in convenient locations near interstates, that's the program. Let's face it: if your traveling in strange lands and want some southern cuisine, many people would prefer CB than test out some local hole in the wall.
I am from Canada in case my name didn't give it away and I wish we had a Cracker Barrel here. My wife introduced me two it 2 summers ago when we were on vacation in Virginia Beach. On the way home we stoped at the one in Hagerstown Maryland. I had the Country Fried Steak it was so awsome. The next time we go to Virginia Beach which should be this summer I will be planning our meals around this resteraunt.
+1, that breakfast tastes like garbage but they still feel the need to charge a buttload of money for something I could have easily made myself. The worst part of Cracker Barrel is definitly the gift shop, they sell the most useless crap.
+1 regarding Olive Garden.
For a chain as big as they are, they consistently serve some pretty good-tasting Italian food.

I will be making a point to be stoping in at one in the next month when I travel out of state.
Check out a Waffle House... they're everywhere.
They like the food.
One of my favorite places to eat is Old Country Buffet... not because of quantity (I don't eat that much when there) but because of the variety and quality of the food. The catch is that the one here in Gaithersburg is easily the best I've ever been to... most others have been good at best and on occassion bad. A big part of it is the person in charge of the food and in Gaithersburg they obviously found the best person for the job.
Did anyone hear that something E-coli related happened at an Olive Garden? I think it was in Indiana. 
Plus, the same radio report said that hundreds of people got sick on a cruise ship, again, I think they said it was E-coli related, though I'm not 100% sure.
