The Dire Wolf has been Recreated

yeah, hearing them say right off the bat why they did this "a value add" i almost barfed. corporate revenue cycle speak relating to living breathing things? no thanks, there is no price to life, it is non-calculable
I agree. I am not entirely opposed to this kind of technology, and in places where human interference has drastically reduced biodiversity and caused animals to go extinct I can see this as a really good sort of "undo" button, especially as climate change and pollution continue to ramp up. But everything about this specific exercise makes me uneasy.

Messing with genetics, messing with nature. The dire wolf thing reminded me of that old 70s TV commercial.

But some were hunted or fished to extinction, and maybe some of those could be reintroduced to everyone's benefit? Just speculating…
^This.

If we're talking about reviving a species that clearly went extinct because of direct human activity, I'm for it. But if it's basically being brought back for entertainment purposes, or just because we can...no thanks.

That is how I feel. The world it lived in no longer exists. That said, I would love to see a full grown giant sloth!🤓
