The direction music is headed?

Some of the posts here about the topic are really very funny. However, the debate is over about the Friday song. Simon Cowell has come out in support of it. Also, I'm sure he would appreciate it if you would support his new show because he really needs the money.

Ah, but I'm not talking about "decent" music. How easy is it to find today's equal to P-Funk, Led Zep, Isley Brothers, Aerosmith, Stevie Wonder, the Stones, EWF, etc.? I'll bet it's not as easy as simply tuning in to a pop station. That's my point, and since I can't make it any clearer than that, I'll bow out of this thread. Some very good points have been made by many. Carry on, good people!

I would say it's exceedingly easy, but just doesn't involve tuning in to a pop station.

Of course simon says it is good. Simon is a "shepherd"........
He leads mindless sheep to grazing fields. He must be seen to eat of the same field or he will no longer be recognized as a trustworthy shepherd.

"Friday" is not "brilliant". Friday is VOMIT.

Simon's endorsement is PROJECTILE VOMIT.

Simon is only trying to get publicity for his new TV show. He knows the Friday song is crap. However, I'm as uninterested in his new show as his old one, American Idol.

I can't even read anymore of this. I'm starting to get an attitude, and a little depressed.

Hey, I'm 61, playing mostly old stuff that I like, and there's plenty of folks coming to hear it and digging it, including the young crowd that's into retro. I remember when I was in my 20s going to see old guys play the genuine thing they were into in the past. It was cool, I thought. Now, I'm the old guy. Actually, I don't care what the rest of the world is playing or into, as long as there's a way for me to play my stuff, the music I think is good. When I look at today's Top 40 I only recognize about three names, and still haven't heard any of it. But I don't care. I may not like it anyway, but who the hell am I to say what's good. Just some old guy.

But, us old guys played the original stuff that so many today try to base their music on. Uh huh.
