side question, are there any cool venues in Co Springs? in know the black sheep, but that is a sodajerk place (nothing against sodajerk, just an observation). i remember looking up some music/art collective (the loft?) but i couldn't tell if it was cool. any word on those or anywhere else? pueblo maybe?
There's The Black Sheep, but they really only get the good bands in the fall and wintertime. I saw Clutch, The Sword, and Graveyard there last fall. There is also Union Station, but they mostly only feature local and regional bands. Some good talent here and there, but most of it is the run of the mill typical metal stuff.
Other than that there aren't really any other clubs that I have found that have a stage for metal. And really the only other venues are the stadiums like the World Arena, and I think the Penrose events center showcases bands every once in a while. There is also the Pikes Peak Center, but that's mostly home of the philharmonic (Which can be just as good as a rock show if you ask me).
But the great venues are really all in Denver.

I like the fillmore and the Ogden the best. Not to big, but big enough to attract some of the better bands out there.
If I don't get to go to the Mastodon show in april, they always seem to come back in the fall. I dunno, it seems as though all the good metal bands come during the fall winter, but at the start of the new year, it's all the hippie and jam bands that come through. The summer is usually festivals and the major touring acts. It's like they have to keep them separated so the hippies the preppies and the metal heads don't fight each other.
boulder was full of stinky hippies... now it's got an inflated population of overly entitled McDoucher's who act like members of mtv's The Hills. Ft. Collins is more hippy-ville now. either way, the mastodon show will kill! also, Pelican is coming through denver April 3rd (marquis theater).
Yeah. Your probably right.
