The dreaded 7 tuplet

Make your own, because most of these aren’t super usable to me, other than the takamini.


For 7/8 I’d say
I don’t wanna bicycle
2+2+3

waddaya think ya doin
3+4


But for a 7tuplet I just go
Doodl-do doodle doodle because of the speed you’d tend to see

Some of you are getting beats per measure, mixed up with divisions of individual beats. Also, there is a proper Solfege syllabalic count for 7. I don’t remember what it is, but it is not sounded out by mixing the countings for 8ths, 16ths and triplets. (example: NOT 1 e & a 2 la le). It is used so rarely, that most people count 1,2,3,4,5,6,7(sev)

And some of us know the difference, but understand and use their similarities for specific purposes.

My way of counting is: " One and two and three and four one and two and three and four..."

Hey IamGroot, Thanks for your response; I actually know what a septuplet is —just being a wise guy!—-but the fact that you were willing to take the time to share an explanation is further proof of how awesome the bass tribe is!!!!
Also very cool that it became such a stimulating thread to follow: takadimi to Gina Lollabrigida....what’s not to like?
Finally: I will breathe easier now that I know for certain that 7 tuplet is NOT the successor to covid 19....stay healthy!

Thank you and sorry for misunderstanding . Two years ago, I didn't even know what a tuplet was. Then I got into sax solos.

I have picked up some good stuff from folks on TB. Glad to return favor and offset the tort/what PJ drivel.

Which coincidentally is also how a lot of newbs play a septuplet.

I think it has more to do with beginners trying it out for the first time, you could say the same about Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky... I never had this issue, but then this is not how I trained septuplets, I was merely pointing out the mistake in the opening post.
