I've never heard of Thunerdcat (I'm really old) can someone post something he plays on please.
I got the joke right away and did get one bassline, can't remember which one but it was the one with more than one note in it.

Do people actually listen to this stuff? I'm totally baffled to who considers this funny... other than the morons who are in it.

So, as a kid when this song came out. It was cool for that era. As an adult that has daughters that age. I am mortified. Seriously, it makes me uncomfortable and I can't even listen to it. And Kip should be shot. 30 year old guy singing about a 17 year old girl.... Okay rant over. Kip is actually a good musician. Played Bass for Alice Cooper. I know a guy who knows a guy and he said Kip is pretty cool.
Letting the Pedulla go was not something I planned on doing. Life happened, and it allowed me to fulfill an obligation.@Dr. Cheese .............you sure about that?

I think Thundercat is one of greatest bassist’s of his generation for sure.
Glad you think so. I've only seen him on npr and that's more platitude than platform. Don't know his work or his income but i would guess those mocked basslines bring in a fair amount.
You will never find me knocking a musician getting paid.
Kip Winger probably made more $$ off that one song than all of us together have made playing bass since the song came out. He probably had better hair than all of us too. Personally I respect that........Not a fan of the song at all btw.

As a bass player I don't say anything against musicians that earn their living.
As a music listener (which I'm more than a bass player) i have the right to criticise everyone for their music, wether they make a living out of it or not.
My daughter, 13 yo, watched Blade Runner and was mortified when Harrison Ford kisses Rachel against her "initial" will. There are a lot of Hollywood movies where the guy forces the girl because y'know girls don't know what they really want. My daughter was like 'Whaaat ???'.

Not my style of music but there's no denying that the guy has serious chops, and can sing!
What I found funny, with the exception of the Winger bass line, was that that all seemed to be out of time, especially the Van Halen lines.
Off topic: there are guys who have lost jobs or even their freedom because they absorbed those messages from the culture. No means no, if you have any doubt, don’t push it.
This thread has NOTHING to do with bassists. At best, it belongs in the humor forum. Shutting ti down.
