I USED to have a friend who was pretty normal, eccentric, but normal, and then everything became conspiracies. Even down the bizarre path to believe that “time” was a man made construct and that one cannot truly measure time because it’s unquantifiable... He went so far off the deep end with some of this stuff, myself and 4 other people who had been long time friends of his, had to step away.

Yes I’ve always believed that we didn’t invent maths, just the language and the procedures for calculation. Like you said, the numbers and relationships have always been there no matter what you call them.

Which means that all the photos of a flat horizon prove nothing either way.

Which in turn means that even the fundamental principles of logic are in on the conspiracy.

According to some FE types, flat earth is a Biblical concept but I'm pretty sure that would generally be hotly contested by even most YECs.

I've done a good bit of digging into FE since a long term acquaintance of mine has claimed to be a flat earther and I'm convinced that it's mostly taking the piss. But no matter how stupid something is, you will find someone who actually believes it.

20 or 30 years ago I took a great deal of pleasure in promoting flat earthery, complete with a conspiracy involving the Lunar Cheese Mining Corporation. The looks on people's faces were wonderful.

Then it became popular among the genuine idiots.

Yes, I was a hipster before it was mainstream.
