I'm paying for a Gibson LP Standard bass and some things had to go. I really hated to sell those cause they don't show up very often and they are nice basses, but I had serious GAS for the LP bass! My main bass is a Gibson T-bird so I'm still covered for T-birds.

I do plan on getting an Epi Nikki Sixx model next year. Plus I wouldn't mind getting a used Goth Bird and putting some of those Basslines soapbar pickups in. They do require some routing to fit, but thats a pretty cheap mod to have done.

Count me in. I've had a T-bird for about a year. Right now I employ a rotation policy with my basses, so none gets used more than the others. I do, however lean toward the T-bird when recording. I also use an '81 G&L L-1000, and an OLP MM2 (which I just got last week).

Ever since I bought one, I have HATED the tone. Its way too muddy for my tastes. I bought a Sterling and it sounds so much better. So what does one do with an extra bass? Well, I threw some purple strings on it, put a Grimace sticker on it (with stars around him), and it is now the Grimace bass. I even made a sticker of Grimace for my case. I would love to switch out the p-ups though.

erigod23: You're # 16 (nice OLP! And I try to be as fair to my basses as I can too. :) )

Grimace :) : For better or worse, you're # 17 :D I agree that playing it solo, it is a dark, dark bass that doesn't have nearly as defined a personality as say a P, or a J, or especially an EBMM. But I think that in an ensemble, nothing in the world "just blends in" as well as a T-Bird. It is totally a ninja bass! And it's getting more an more use as a result. :)

Im picking up a t.bird this weekend sometime(sun burst), $120 from a old guy on craigslist. But im curious. How much different in sound and feel is the Gothic T.bird? Does the mahongony body make much of a difference?

I absolutely LOVE mine, its my favorite bass out of anything I've ever owned or played in the last 20 years. Its the normal tobacco sunburst, the only difference is I moved the top strap button to one of the neck screws. The only plans I have for it are a slightly customized pickguard, speed knobs, and a custom made truss rod adjustment cover

Finally got my T.Bird today, its in decent shape. I just need to clean it up, throw some slinkys on it and take it to have the action adjusted. Its too low, is rattling when im playing. A plus was that the guy i bought it from had relocated the top strap button to the epiphone tag. So thats good. After getting home and playing with it, i just start by saying its alot different then what im used to. Im very new to bass and have been playing on a ibanez srx, the neck on the tbird is so much bigger and thicker, plus the frets are abit bigger too. So thats gonna take some time to get used to. But it has alot more of a different tone than my SRX. Im happy with it.

Oh, by the way, the guy i bought it from gave me the pickguard, but lost the screws. Does anyone know what size they are? I wanna throw it on and see how i like it. thanks

why thank you.

It is one hell of a bass. So heavy, the body is almost 2'' thick! It feels soo massive compared to my other thunderbird, but it sounds great! The P/J combo is really something else. I reall ylike it. Has a way different tone then any thunderbird out there. The bridge is real nice too, its easy to get nice looow action.

Curious, what is everyone else playing thier t.birds out of? Right now, im using an old peavey tko75 amp. Its my first amp. Planning on upgrading soon, wanted to see what everyone esle is using.
