Delta, would you be willing to delegate for me?

God Bless guys!

p.s. five iron frenzy uses a T-Bird?! Sweet!

I noticed that MF and most other online music stores are listing new SILVERBURST epiphone t-birds. This sounds like it would be ridiculously cool looking but I can't find any pictures.

Any of you guys got some inside scoop? I figure since this is the club you guys might know something about this.

Thanks! I have a bit of a weakness for all things mahogany... :)

I'm aware of a couple of "pickup transplants" using those NOS 70's nickel plated Tbird pickup covers that are currently up on Ebay. They have both used late model Gibson TB+ pickups for the innards. Hope it's okay to link to it - there's a writeup with photos here:

I think I recall reading that the Epi pickups differ slightly in size. I don't have one to compare (my Epi uses the guitar-sized TB+ humbuckers), but I could provide you measurements of the covers if you wanted to compare.

Another interesting tidbit is that those Bill Lawerence Gibson G-3/S-1 pickups available from the same seller will apparently fit side-by-side into one of those covers (with only minor mods) - creating something similar to the 60s Thunderbird pickup in design (used two lap-steel or melody maker bobbins side-by-side). I suppose this could be another fun alternative for an Epi chroming project!

if you wouldn't mind sending me the measurements that would be really handy..

These are the measurements for those NOS '76-79 Tbird pickup covers on Ebay. Figure I'd post them here in case anyone else needs them well.

Pickup cover dimensions:
9.3cm wide
4.0cm deep
1.9cm high

Outer trim-ring dimensions:
10.1cm wide
5.5cm deep

For reference, this link will take you to one of the auctions for those covers:

Chrome 3-point bridges show up on Ebay quite a bit, and you might check out Hipshot Ultralite "clovers" for some vintage-looking chrome tuners. I've seen those applied to the small, late-model Gibson Tbird headstocks with success. Might work for the Epis too.

brilliant thanks a lot :) yeah the hip shot stuff is great, I've been thinking about getting the bridge that they have for the tbird as well, the standard one annoys me slightly.. i donno if anyone here has the hip shot bridge? i think it just sits over the original stirrups
