I owned a Gibson Explorer Bass, made in '84 if I remember correctly. The 32" scale made it a blast to play. It also balanced well and looked badass. Unfortunately, the stock pickups on those basses suck money balls and nothing else will swap in without routing the body. I almost bit the bullet and installed EMG's, but I couldn't bring myself to route a collectible bass, so I just sold it.
I think the Explorer shape looks sweet. Now you guys have got me jonesing for another one. lol.

I guess, on top of going against every popular trend on the forum, I also like to suck monkey balls.

Here's my USA Hamer with Kahler. I had to dig it out, as it was buried underneath a bunch of other basses. I need to restring it and get it back into playing condition. Also note my pointy bass project to the right of the Hamer. It is an Arbor short scale, I had one like it in the eighties. It also has a Kahler, needs a lot more work than the Hamer though. Gotta love projects!
