I got these cases from Musicians friend and it took forever to get them. They are never in stock. If you go to the MF page, the review on there is mine. They are HUGE cases and weigh a ton. But, if you work your basses like I do, you need the case..I think. I can measure them later if you want and get back with you.

I have the Trans Brown Mockingbird from the Thin Lizzy video,the Quilted Maple Mockingbird,the 2 Koa Bich 8 basses,the 2 Widow basses,the Blue St bass,the snakeskin Warlock bass,the Snakeskin Gunslinger bass,the snakeskin ST III G***ar and the trans red Ironbird:)

Among others. I think he left his best sound behind when he moved on to Buzzards and Ashdown + way too much processing. My Alembic is Mahogany, not terribly light but not a burden to have strapped on. The neck is wider than I like, so it's a bit hard to play but it does sound pretty great, especially with tubes.

Those are not Metalman versions. They are the Z Tour model. They play fine for the thrash that I play but I dont use them for anything else. For metal, they are fine. I get a really fat sound through my RBI and an Aguilar GS412 and thats what Im looking for but they are pretty one dimensional and not super versatile. And they are huge basses, much larger than the Metalmans. So much so, alot of bassist cant play them because its too difficult to reach the F. Im big so they cover me pretty good.

Lorne, Ill get you those measurements Sunday. Both basses are at the rehearsal room for a show this weekend but, Ill get em for ya.

Hard cases for Dean "Z" basses are not hard to find. All "Z" series basses have the same body size and all fit in the Metalman Z bass case. It is the only Z bass case
Dean makes and you can find them all over the web ($130.00).
I wouldn't put my Dean in anything else.

Yeah...only problem for me finding a case is that all my funds are in coins smaller than dimes....I'm a broke teen. :( I've dinged up the corners from resting it on my foot @ marching band (the practice field is a parking lot). Or from walking through doors while wearing it. It's okay, though. I'm in a 30 year process of doing the most extensive, detailed, and most authentic relicing job I can. :P

(that's seriously how I make myself feel better after putting a ding in either my jaguar or my explorer..."Hey...I'm just relicing it! THat's popular now!" :p )

This is certainly not true. My Z Tour would not fit in the Metalman Z case. The Metalmans body is smaller than the Tour. The Tour will fit in the case but the lower body bout has to be trimmed for it to fit. I had to wait a year to get that first case because no one knew when they were going to be made.

My ZBX is the same size as the Z tour and it fits perfectly in the Metalman case. Anyhow...doesn't matter, I'm just happy to see another Dean owner that stands by the explorer shape.
Please tell me...why 2 of the same basses?:)

Well, Dean cases are not known for their consistency and there have been many shipped that didnt fit the bass they were built for..oh well. Both my cases were built by the same company with the same components and they are different sizes. These work now and they are good cases. Ive got two of the same bass as one would be used for a backup. Same settings same strings just in case something were to happen live to the first, the seconds ready to go. These are working basses only. I dont really play them for enjoyment at all, thats what my TL-5 is for.

Plus....Ive got this strange "thing" for having two of the same bass. I know, its strange. I cant explain it at all.
