The Explorer Bass Club

I wouldn't go as far as to say that she's in excellent condition, she's got her fair share of chips and dings. Could be worse, but it could be better too :D

As far as the case it cost me about $300. I figured after putting all the money I did into the bass it only made sense to protect it properly.

I use an 88 key keyboard case for my Alembic. It was $200, but Alembic wanted $600. I had to remove all the padding and make my own, shaped to fit the bass. Not much help if you're 17 and can't afford the bass to begin with. Maybe you can find a bass gig bag in the right shape, I haven't looked. My Gibson has the original case, it's about 9 feet long and weighs more than a bus.

Fealach, have you posted a pic of said Alembic? Alembic wants 600 for a case!? I could buy...another explorer, new pickups and a drop tuner for that much!

wait, was that black one the alembic?

Yes. The black one in post #3 is an Exploiter. Here it is again:

That Emperor case looks very nice. I wish I'd known about them years ago! I do not doubt the Alembic case would be very good, very tough and fit perfectly. It would probably be the Rolls Royce of bass cases, but I just couldn't pay that much.

Not mine, but I did find it for my friend

A Kahlerized Ironbird...I've dreamed of one, but never seen one! How sweet is that! Crazy basses!

Fealach, do you, by any chance, get inspiration from john entwistle? :p
I've never seen a black exploiter! Very very nice! Knowing alembic, it'd probably be very light, and strong. It'd probably be carbon fiber, with some high tech thing inside. HOw much does that exploiter weigh?

Knowing Alembic, it's probably not particularly light, and it's definitely made out of wood with Alembic electronics. John's graphite basses were the Buzzards made by Status.

The shape is slightly exaggerated by the picture angle, but yes. I agree. Whoever has it is lucky. :D

There is a pic of another Focus 8000 Body with a Pointy Kramer Neck.. if I can find it i'll post it for all y'all Explorer lovers.
