What I find amazing talking about Fenders strings, is how people claim the ones made before 2010 are so much better than the new ones. Yet before the change, people talked about how awful they were. In my opinion, I think the new ones (post 2010) are actually better than the old ones.

I do not know about other models, but the 8250s went from the best string I EVER tried to quite bad, as in uninstalling and ditching within hours of installation. Really bad...
I have also tried some other post 2010 sets with the same result. Crap*y low end, stiff/dead feeling, uninteresting mids and dull highs.

I have very little experience with the 7250M, which came on my 2014 Am Std P bass but stayed on there for less than an hour.

One thing I can tell you is, based on my research, I would take the new version of the 9050 flats over the old version any day, except for the bright green silk and color-coded ball ends.

I remember having the old black wraps and they worked but didn't really grab me. I went through a few sets of rotos and I liked them but they didn't seem to last too long. I can't even remember why I tried the fenders again but with my hipshot bridge, 1/4 pounders and GK rig, I get the tone I'm after.

I have been using the 7250's on my P-bass for a long time now (pre and post 2010) and have always found them to be smooth feeling with great tone. I've also had them on some of my Jazz basses and am fine with them. IME, they are no comparison at all to Roto's, which feel like broken glass has been embedded in the windings. The piercing highs are from my screaming when I play them. :laugh:

I've always thought the tone was similar to rotos (on my setup) My bass crunches like a rice crispie though

You're in Linnin...pick a number, I've lost track but I think you're 12. I wish #2 or 3 would come help me sort it out
