I know what you mean about the sterotype. That's what this engineer had when I told him I was bringing in a Cort fretless to record with - it was also the reason he was so shocked at how good it sounded. This is someone with over 30 years of professional sound experience too... I've played a fretless Yamaha that was over double the price and I didn't like it as much as this little bass. Cort have really improved their overall manufacturing standards in recent years yet still suffer the stigma of being an entry level brand from times prior when they were just that.

I agree Cort's have come a long way since the 1980's. Looking back I know my first one wasn't the greatest. As a starter bass, it did the job just fine. The difference on all levels between it & the Artisan are certainly night & day. It's a shame people get hung up on brand names or stigmas. Then again if Cort become popular, it may drive the prices up. Maybe it's better they're continued to be seen as an underdog

Congrats on both the bass and the engagement. My wife got me an F-Bass AC6 for Christmas, and she keeps teasing that she expects to find it on her side of the bed any day now.

Thanks for the congrads. I saw your AC6 earlier in the thread, it's a beauty !. Finding it on her side of the bed is certainly a thought . I better be careful for a while tho. I wouldn't want to sleep on the couch starting on the wedding night

Here is my Dean 4 fretless. I just replaced the bridge with a BAII. Also if you believe me this basss used to be candy apple red. I stripped all the color and lacquer and got this result. I think it looks a hell of alot better.

Hey "NineFingerBass" - is there a story behind your moniker? I lost the tip of my right-hand middle finger when I was a child, and could qualify for a moniker like yours. I've been playing bass for over 30 years now, and do just fine plucking with my first and third fingers.
