The GHS Thread

Heh, my alter-ego. But since they both wear glasses, which is which?! It wasn't that much of a secret, given that I did have to state my new position/affiliation in my profile.

We're looking at setting up a commercial account, so at least during the weekdays (because honestly, you're never really "off the clock" in a social media position), I'm going to be handling everything from this from now on.

Both? Cool with me either way. I know what you mean, we're never really off the clock are we?

Thanks for all your help!!

If Progressives don't get put on that bass I'm going to burn it.

I've already said that will probably be the string that comes on it. It would be sooooo much easier if the 5 string packs would comfortably fit a 35" scale. So I guess I'll have to order a special set from BSO and be angry about it. :spit:

Maybe GHS and BMT can team up since they're that close......who knows? :hiding:

Go with the .136 B. You and your intestines can thank me later.

I'd be more concerned with not having to create my own 5 string set out of singles thusly making it much more affordable and financially able to place the strings on a multitude of basses.

That has already been mentioned. A couple of times, actually. And I agree with you completely.

I'm telling you, .45-.105 with a .136 B. MAGIC.

Well, I do have that second 310 on the way to me...........hmm

Why wasn't I told about this? Did you get a new head as well? Text me...

You're appreciated. ;)

Agreed!

What about going with a lighter gauge? I ask because I was using a set of .40-.95's and they were pretty flexible! :)

that is actually the set i am currently using. they are quite flexible but i'm one of those picky players that always wants more. i will say that they have made a GHS convert out of me after using DRs almost exclusively for the past 5 years. i bought the light guage set on a whim and ended up buying 4 more sets for my other basses.

the lighter guage was something of a revelation to me as well. i'd been using 45-105 since the beginning and swore off the idea of using light-guage strings because they would be "floppy". i was dead wrong. the light guage set of boomers (40-55-75-95) feel really good to me. the "standard" 65-guage d-string usually bothered me due to how stiff it felt in comparison to the other strings, but now it's quite comfortable. i'm pretty happy so far with the set, but i would like the G-string a bit lighter, perhaps a 35. and if they made a round-core set, they would be the prefect balance of size and felxibility to me.

Interesting - I just put on a set of Boomers, 40 - 120 and they feel just a tad large / stiff. Big sound, feel good... Perhaps a tad low-mid heavy.

The Boomers definitely have a nice smooth feel and play 'fast'.

I often describe Boomers as a FULL body string. Compared to the scooped nature of other strings GHS are a bit mid heavy. As soon as I played them I loved the tone and feel!

Glad using smaller gauges can work for you. Wha t about ordering a custom set?
