The GHS Thread

Threw a set of 45-100 Boomers on a new Peavey Foundation. Got them on sale. Thought I'd refresh my memory and wanted to use a lighter gauge string on this bass initially.

Thoughts? Rough feel in comparison to DR Sunbeams. Higher tension too. Even more so than Daddario XLs. Warm and punchy if a bit boomy in the mids. Thus the name i guess?

My E string seems to lack a bit of character in comparison to the others.

Seriously, when I used Boomers as my main string 30+ years ago, I always had to purchase an extra E string to replace after the first couple of gigs because with my perspiration chemistry, it eats the nickel plate and kills the string prematurely.
 
I know there a difference in feel and tension between med gauge and lights.What is the difference in sound between the two? Comparing boomers vs boomers on the same bass. Lights are thinner is the sound thinner too?
