The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

I'm contemplating what power supply I'm gonna have to get. I'm gonna have to power a LA1a, HX Stomp, Aguilar Agro and ToneHammer. I think the 7 is the way to go.

That might be on my list as well.

However, I did find a seller on Reverb who makes a few power supply pedals and can configure however you want. A bit cheaper than the CIOKS and more spots.

Search Sweetfoot SUPER on Reverb. Website is sweetfootpedals.com

No affiliation, just a discovery I made a while back. Reached out to him and he was very helpful. I asked about a 12V 800ma for my Compressore and he said no problem. I imagine he could do a 1a center + if you wanted. He does make a few HX specific power supplies, that's how I found him in Reverb

I actually reached out to him and he told me he could do one that would support all of it. So I will definitely being doing his!

I run an Eventide Powermax. It's the same as a DC-7 minus the 24v port. I picked it up for about $100 less than I could find a DC-7 for. If you don't need the big volts, that's an option.

On another note. The budget baby board build should ramp up again. I am getting the microThumpinator today. Still waiting on the Becos. It hasn't made it out of Romania yet according to the tracking.

Here's some pics of the budget baby board. Just need the comp and it will be complete.

Love the smaller form factor microThumpinator.

That's nice and tidy. The risers are very useful. One of my boards is a PT Jr and the riser is especially useful for getting the rear row of pedals up just enough so that my foot doesn't have a chance to bump a knob on one of the front row pedals.

There is also a trick you can do on the rear. If you use the thicker, white/clear, Dual Lock to stick the riser to the Nano, it creates just enough gap to run flat cables and power wires through it.

Photon Death Ray or LA-1A ? I mostly play metal and also sometimes route my daw through my pedalboard. I have the Boss CS2 compressor, but I only use it to enhance the OC2, since it is quite noisy. Like the sound tho. Since I am switching between fingers and pick a lot of the time in the new band, I need a solid compressor that sounds great.

I have both, A/B'd them only a few minutes. There's not much surprise in there, PDR is fat sounding, but not as much as LA-1A. It's a great comp on its own, but it doesn't recreate this tube heft the LA-1A definitely delivers. Depends on what you're looking at, it's difficult to find a thicker comp than the Effectrode. What's quite nice is it makes your lows wider, bigger, without losing definition. But PDR is definitely a strong contender too.

Photon Death Ray = Punchy, heft
LA=1a = wide, spacial, bigger
