They are quite different. You can push the Studio One a bit with the Gain knob but it doesn't really break up much. Just gets a bit thicker and some subtle overtones etc. The EQ is pretty powerful and the HPF/LPF's are as you'd expect from Josh, Perfect. And it has a good DI.
The Oracle has that wonderful tube tone and the Eq is very musical but no DI and I am not in awe of the switched and fixed HPF, and subsequently never use it.
The trick is to use them together and stick a LA-1A in front, of course.

I am definitely anxious to try Photon Death Ray > Oracle > Studio One

The PDR was probably the fastest flip I ever did. Waited over 3 weeks to get it. While I was waiting, my LA-1A showed up after 3 days waiting. It wasn't even a fair fight. It was over before it began. To be fair, the more I played with the PDR, the more I saw its benefits but I still listed it the day it showed up. I do regret losing money on it though. :smug:

I think I've come to the conclusion that opto comps with simple control layouts are not my bag. BCP-1, Monocle and PDR all went away. They didn't sound bad, on the contrary they all had good tone. Just something about the comp reaction that I haven't got along with. It's probably just me.

I'm trying to figure out some more about the Cab M, but the info is a bit hit or miss online. Does it have a dry out? And/or can you bypass the whole thing easily or no? Thanks for your help.

I believe it does have a dry out.
There are no footswitch's, but I seriously cannot think of a reason to turn it off! It sounds that good! And it pairs really well with the La-1a, I mean really well!
Of course YMMV, but I'm sold!
